Professionalism (100 points): Demonstrating professional behavior is a key skill for success in
college and beyond. Over the course of the semester, students will need to demonstrate their
professionalism (punctuality, engagement, self-motivation, organization/prioritizing), critical
thinking (creativity, openness to new ideas, logic), and networking/personal skills (asking for
help, being a productive group member, developing appropriate contacts). A key element of
professionalism is being prepared to participate in class conversation on a regular basis.
Being prepared means (but is not limited to) completing the reading, identifying its key
points, and making connections between it and other issues, topics, and research. At the
conclusion of the semester, both the student and the instructor will evaluate the student's
performance. See the last page of the syllabus for the rubric.

Intellectual Integrity
Because the Drury community places a high value on academic integrity, plagiarism in any form is
prohibited. Examples of plagiarism include (but are not limited to): quoting without providing
indication that the words are from another source, paraphrasing the ideas of others without attributing
the ideas to their creators, cutting and pasting text from the internet, submitting work completed by
another—whether purchased or not, and submitting a paper completed for another class. Plagiarism, in
any form, may be grounds for failing an assignment (or lowering a grade) and, if repeated, failing the
course. All instances of plagiarism will be documented and forwarded to the Dean's Office. The Dean
can dismiss students who commit plagiarism. Dismissal due to plagiarism can make it difficult to
get student loans, gain admittance at another institution, and become licensed as a professional in
numerous fields.
