Adding Fractions Apple Flash Cards
Materials:
Poppin' Patterns Dots on Black Apples
Designer Cut-Outs (CTP 6238)

clear, printable sticker labels
Directions:
1. Compose a variety of fraction addition equations (without
answers) and a separate list of the corresponding equation
answers with a word processing computer program.
2. Print equations and separated answers onto clear, printable,
sticker labels.
3. Peel and stick each fraction addition equation on colored sides
of Poppin’ Patterns Dots on Black Apples Designer Cut-Outs, and
stick corresponding answers on the back of the cut-outs, creating
flash cards.
4. Use the flash cards to quiz students on fraction addition by
showing each equation and waiting for the students to answer
correctly. If they do not answer correctly, show them the answer
so they can learn from their error.
Tip:
Flash cards are a great way
to shape and improve a
student’s recognition or
memorization skills. When
utilizing flash cards for adding
fractions, students will learn
to recall steps necessary
to finding the equation’s
common denominator—the
first step to solving fraction
addition problems.
