Looking rested and radiant, supermodel Christie
Brinkley was back in the Hamptons minus her
wedding ring yesterday - and came face to face
with cheating husband Peter Cook.
"I'd rather not comment," the iconic Cosmo Girl
said with a laugh after her hasty meeting with
Cook and his elderly parents. "I just don't want to
fuel this anymore."
With her trademark blond tresses swept up in a
ponytail, Brinkley wore a fetching white dress
with spaghetti straps, silver earrings and a showy
turquoise ring on the middle finger of her left

hand. She made no effort to hide her bare
wedding-ring finger.
Brinkley has stayed out of the spotlight while she
nursed a broken heart and fiercely shielded
11-year-old son Jack and 7-year-old daughter
Sailor Lee from headlines of her marital woes.
But Brinkley seemed almost unaffected by her
personal problems yesterday - even though she
saw Cook.
He arrived in Bridgehampton about 1:30 p.m.,
driving past the couple's $22 million estate, and
then hanging an abrupt U-turn to double back
through the gates.

Uptown Girl led the whole caravan back onto the street and disappeared in her tan
Lexus SUV - with neither of the couple's two young children in sight.
The still-stunning 52-year-old catwalker returned to the compound within the hour,
and flashing the megawatt smile that sold millions of glossy magazines in the
1980s, she took pity on a Daily News photographer stationed outside.
"Here, this is a little gift for you," she said, playfully handing over a box of sugar-free
orange, cherry and grape Popsicles. "I want you to take this. It's very, very hot out."
With her 20-year-old daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, in the passenger seat, Brinkley
pointed to a handwritten note nestled inside the box. "Sorry you have to do this on
such a hot day!" the note read.
Also inside were two leather bracelets embroidered with Web site
stopglobalwarming.com, a nod to Brinkley's work as an avid environmentalist.
Brinkley then drove Alexa, whose father is Billy Joel, to the Sag Harbor Yacht Club,
where she greeted well-wishers and graciously remained mum on anything but the
sweltering heat.
"It's global warming," she said of the 98-degree clime, declining to willingly pose for
a full-length photo.
Sources said Brinkley is having a hard time forgiving Cook for his prolonged affair
with 19-year-old assistant Diana Bianchi and likely will seek a divorce.
Cook, 47, issued an apology to Brinkley through his attorney last week. "He's sorry,
he really is," lawyer Norman Sheresky said.
The architect who also had an affair with singer Samantha Cole back in 1996 - when
she was 19 and he was 36 - has not returned repeated calls seeking comment.
"She is very hurt and very shocked," Brinkley's sister-in-law Julie Brinkley earlier
told the Daily News. "It's just shocking."

Dressed to kill in the Hamptons yesterday, Brinkley showed Cook exactly what he
is missing.
What kind of idiot trades one of the world's most beautiful women for a teenage
wanna-be barely out of high school? Compared to Brinkley, Diana Bianchi, the
19-year-old who eventually dumped him, has all the grace of a bow-legged ballerina.

"You won't see Christie moping around in smudged mascara and sweatpants," says
New York psychologist Cooper Lawrence, author of "Been There, Done That, Kept
the Jewelry." "She's brushed herself off and is moving on already."
Brinkley, 52, who appeared without her wedding ring, even joked with our
photographer.
She gave her charity bracelets and a box of Popsicles with a note saying: "Sorry
you have to do this on such a hot day!"
Proof, if we needed it, that Brinkley is not only a class act but a real lady, too.
Cook had better move quickly in his desperate bid to win her back. Otherwise, it
won't be long before the lady finds the gentleman she deserves.
