JOB OPPORTUNITY Production Manager Position Objective: The Production Manager functions as a liaison to all producing departments, gathering, interpreting, and communicating all technical information for all events that are programmed within 92Y’s performance spaces. The job holder will supervise and direct staff, including Local One stagehands, and if/when appropriate initiates disciplinary action, in conjunction with Director of Labor Relations. Additional responsibilities include working on initiatives to broaden the scope of 92Y’s venue rental business, acting as the main liaison with all outside renters, and undertaking administrative duties including managing 92Y’s event database and tracking departmental budgets. Essential Functions: • • • • • • • • • • • • • Maintain and establish departmental policies and procedures, objectives, safety, and environmental standards. Responsible for gathering all technical information for performances, including but not limited to sound, lighting, audio-visual, and stage setup needs. Supervise and direct staff including Local One stagehands. If and when appropriate initiate disciplinary action in conjunction with Director of Labor Relations. Provide technical advice and management proposals with regard to Local 1 collective barging. Ensures production information is current and received in a timely manner. Assist in budget development and management. Responsible for all outside rental activity, both in seeking activity, responding to outside requests, and managing rental events from beginning to end. Administer the terms of rental contracts, including box office reconciliation, stage requirements, insurance risers, etc. Coordinates with the Special Events and Development Departments to ensure that all events scheduled have correct information and that sponsors’ needs have been addressed. Participates in meetings as required, sometimes in a lead role. Manages 92Y’s event database. May be assigned other tasks and duties reasonably related to the job responsibilities. Education/Affiliations: • College Degree preferred Skills and Experience Required: • • • • • • • • • Between three to five previous experience in theatrical production required; experience with stagehand collective bargaining agreements helpful. Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities. Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated through accomplished verbal and written communications. An experienced manager with strong leadership and motivational skills. Proven efficient administration skills. Strong proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is required. Ability to lead ad-hoc task forces and meetings, which may include all levels of managers and employees. Ability to author and effectively present information to clients, top management and staff in verbal and written formats. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints, including those of a sensitive and confidential nature under a variety of circumstances. Hours of Work: Sunday 11-8pm; Monday-Thursday 12pm-9pm, with a one hour, daily, unpaid break. Some flexibility in hours and working days is required.
