Josefina Tondo, Ph.D.
April 23-26
8:30-12:00, 2:00-4:30
The seminar-workshop takes a look at the
human person as pastoral agent from an
anthropological reading of the scriptures and

person of Jesus and the Jewish cultural context of
his time and his engagement with his human
affairs. It takes into account the relationship
between culture, belief and faith, and various
models of pastoral care and leadership. It also
engages important contemporary issues of
gender, abuse and transformative change in the
church towards being a Church of communion.
Everyone who joins the seminar-workshop would
be expected to participate in the community
prayers and the processes of reflection, dialogue
and learning.

April 28-30, May 2-3 (8:00a.m.-12:00nn)
May 19-24 (8:30-12:00; 2:00-4:30)
Through lecture, experience, and guided
individual and group meditation, the course
introduces the students to the practice of
spiritual accompaniment and familiarizes them
with different models of spiritual guidance.
Religious are often perceived as helpers. As such,
people automatically turn to them in times of need.
Without the appropriate preparation and training,
the religious usually ends up offering “spiritual band
-aids” to psychological wounds. It is therefore
essential that the religious learns some basic
counseling skills, which are akin to giving proper
first aid. By doing so, we encourage people to
continue seeking the compassion of God through
her ministers. We also in the process genuinely offer
hope to people in the midst of their brokenness.
