ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Undergraduate Entry Requirements
UWE will consider students who have taken GCE A Level examinations and the International
Baccalaureate (IB) for entrance to undergraduate programmes. Applicants should offer either a good
West African Higher School Certificate/GCSE ‘A’ level/Nigeria Certificate of Education plus an UK
international/bridging foundation course or equivalent will be considered for direct entry to
undergraduate programmes. Students who hold a Post-Secondary Certificate/OND Advanced
National Technical Certificate with upper credit will also be considered. Holders of Higher National
Certificate or Higher National Diploma will be considered for direct entry where AL can be awarded.
Applicants with lower score may also be considered. Students who have completed the first year of a
Bachelor’s degree from a university in Nigeria and have satisfied English language requirements will
be considered for direct entry of the undergraduate programmes. Contact your in-country
representative for more details.
Postgraduate Entry Requirements
Holders of a good Bachelor (Hons) Degree awarded by a Nigerian university will be considered for
entry of postgraduate study, depending on the English level. Those who satisfy English language
requirements would be considered for direct entry of postgraduate courses, while those who do not
satisfy the requirements, they would be asked to study Pre-Master course before entry of postgraduate
courses. Please contact your in-country representative for more details.
Medical Career
UWE Bristol offers a new one year Premedical Sciences programme which has been co-developed by
UWE Bristol and St. Georges' University (SGU) in Grenada, West Indies. Taught at UWE Bristol, it
provides an exciting route for students to gain knowledge and entry qualifications for progression
onto high quality and internationally recognized medical degree programme at SGU in Grenada.
Students can study in the two countries and qualify with a recognised medical degree.MPhil/PhD
Roehampton welcomes applications to its research programmes. You are usually expected to hold a
good honours degree from an approved Higher Education Institution in the UK or abroad in a subject
area relevant to your proposed research.
TUITION FEES



Undergraduate programmes are £10,750
Postgraduate programmes are £10,750 - £13,000
MBA (accredited by the Association of MBAs) is £17,500
*Fees shown are as at 2012/2013 session.
Deposit payments
Successful applicants are required to pay a deposit of £3,000 to secure a place and register as UWE
students. This payment reduces the amount of tuition fees payable on arrival and also improves your
chances to secure a visa for study in the UK as you have demonstrated your commitment to the
programme through the payment. If you pay your tuition fees in full before or at registration, you will
be entitled to the UWE Loyalty Scholarship of £500!

UWE Bristol's International College
UWE Bristol partners with educational and career services provider Kaplan to bring the International
College. The International College provides excellent preparation for international students looking to
start an undergraduate or postgraduate degree course in the UK. Based at UWE Bristol's Frenchay
Campus, the International College runs a wide range of university preparation programmes like
Foundation certificate designed for progression to an undergraduate degree at the University.
Progression routes available at UWE Bristol to Foundation Certificate students include degrees in the

PARTNERS IN NIGERIA
University of Ibadan
With partnership and collaboration at the heart of what we do, UWE Bristol has collaborated with the
University of Ibadan to develop a three semester dual-award Masters in Construction Project
Management. The course is accredited by both the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the
Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). As part of the course, students can spend two out of
three semesters in Nigeria or in the UK, with the remaining semester spent in the other country.
University of Lagos
Our close relationship with the University of Lagos (UNILAG) also provides a number of
opportunities to students. UNILAG students who have completed selected courses in Engineering are
able to progress onto a range of courses at UWE Bristol.
ACCOMMODATION
UWE offers a range of accommodation options to students. Students will have to check their course
entry to find out which campus they will be studying at and the accommodation options that will be
most beneficial to them.
As an international student studying at UWE for the whole academic year you are guaranteed UWE
accommodation if you apply before the deadline.
There is a variety of accommodation available to UWE students in Bristol with varying prices to suit
all budgets. There are on-campus and off-campus accommodation managed by the University. If you
wish to choose private accommodation, we have a list of approved rental properties all over the city.
The accommodation options are:







Student Village and Carroll Court suitable for Frenchay and St. Matthias based students.
Glenside campus for Glenside and St. Matthias based students.
St. Matthias campus for St. Matthias based students.
The Hollies suitable for Frenchay, Glenside and St. Matthias based students.
City Centre accommodation: Favell House, Market-gate, Waverly House suitable for all
students particularly Bower Ashton students where there is no on-campus accommodation.
UWE Homes: These houses are located in residential areas in Bristol and would suit students
who prefer to have greater independence. These homes are suitable for Frenchay, Glenside
and St. Matthias based students
Hartpury College accommodation: Hartpury College accommodation is suitable for Hartpury
College based students.
The accommodation rent range is from £3,800 - £6,600 per annum. This can be paid in full, termly or
monthly. There is a UWE bus network that serves all four Campuses with routes via the City Centre
and student residential areas at a very reasonable rate. All UWE accommodation includes the price of
UWE bus travel in your rent.
