CollegeSpring Program Data Manager ABO UT CO LLEGESPRING CollegeSpring is a nonprofit that mobilizes experienced educators and near-peer mentors to help high school students from low-income backgrounds achieve the SAT scores, college acceptances, and futures they deserve. Since 2008, CollegeSpring has helped more than 11,000 students in California and New York improve their SAT scores an average of 180 points and pursue college degrees. CollegeSpring is an entrepreneurial organization in an exciting stage of growth: we expect to reach 10,000 additional students over the next three years as our annual budget expands to $5 million. ABO UT THE O PPO RTUN ITY The mission of the Data & Impact Team at CollegeSpring is to support continuous, dynamic research to improve the quality and breadth of our programs by supporting data-driven decision making; to track our long-term impact on our students’ success; and to share with the wider college access communities what we learn through our research. CollegeSpring is expanding this team by hiring a full-time Program Data Manager for the Los Angeles (preferred) or San Francisco office. This position will report to the Director of Research & Evaluation (DRE), manage 1-2 Data Interns, and work collaboratively with the national Strategy & Impact Team and 3 regional programs teams. This is a unique opportunity to significantly contribute to the use of data by regional program teams in improving programs and outcomes for students. RESPO NSIBILITIES Program Databases • The PDM is responsible for managing data quality in the program database in Salesforce. This includes monitoring the system to ensure it meets programmatic data management needs and data quality standards and reporting any issues to the DRE. The PDM will collaborate with the DRE in managing vendors involved in making changes to and improvements for the Salesforce database. • The PDM is responsible for maintaining the coding and storage of online and paper-pen survey data. This involves cleaning and coding spreadsheets of data and managing the SalesforceQualtrics Integration project which will connect our survey collection software to the Salesforce database. Data Collection & Entry System s • The PDM is responsible for ensuring that program data collection processes are comprehensive for collecting program data across all regions and are well-documented. • The PDM is responsible for coordinating data collection across all regions, including sending out reminders, tracking data as it is collected, and organizing paper-pen surveys as they are shipped in from the regions. • The PDM is responsible for the coding, entry, and clean-up of all program survey data. This includes creating codebooks for surveys, training and supporting 1-2 Data Interns in data entry, and cleaning data before organizing it into a central database. Regional Program Data Training & Support • The PDM is responsible for creating and maintaining training materials and supporting the DRE in running training sessions for all regional program data tasks. This includes data collection, grading, use of Salesforce to store and access data, and access to and use of data about programs for guiding program implementation and support. www.collegespring.org | 1 • The PDM is responsible for updating data-related processes to ensure high data quality and maximize ease of use for regional programs teams as programs grow and/or new pilot programs are built. The PDM will work closely with the DRE, Strategy & Impact Team, and regional programs teams to gather information about how to update and improve these processes. Perform ance M easurem ent Reporting • The PDM is responsible for ensuring that regional programs teams have regular access to performance measurement data. To do this, the PDM must update our Performance Measurement reporting systems bimonthly. Additionally, the PDM will help design new reporting procedures to ensure all programs team members have regular access to information about training and program implementation quality. • The PDM will assist the DRE in building out a Performance Measurement system in Salesforce. Support of Program Evaluation • The PDM will assist the DRE in executing evaluations of program quality and impact. This may include but is not limited to helping to design measurement and collection processes, implementing new processes for collecting data, conducting basic analyses of program data, and conducting interviews and/or focus groups. • The PDM will have the opportunity to work on projects related to the reporting of evaluation data to both internal and external audiences. This may include but is not limited to presenting data to staff members, delivering presentations at conferences, or contributing to written manuscripts of evaluation data for academic publication. Q UALIFICATIO NS • M.A. in the Social Sciences, Education, Program Evaluation, or a related field required. 2 additional years of relevant professional experience may substitute for an M.A. • 2 - 4 years of professional experience working with quantitative data required. Can be either in a research or administrative capacity. • At least 2 years of significant, mostly independent project management experience required. Must show evidence of successfully coordinating the efforts of others to achieve a goal. • Strong computer proficiency, including working with large datasets in Excel, and a desire to learn new skills and software required. • Strong written, communication, and interpersonal skills required. The person in this role will need to interact and coordinate with staff members across the organization. • Extreme attention to detail and ability to work independently while managing competing deadlines and priorities required. • Experience with Salesforce is strongly desirable. • Experience with data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, Stata) is a plus. • Passion for the mission of CollegeSpring and belief that a focused intervention (SAT score improvement and near-peer mentoring) at a critical point in a student’s life can change that student’s trajectory required. • Entrepreneurial spirit with a desire to work with an ambitious team in a rapidly changing environment required.
