The introduction also includes a clearly stated thesis or proposition and preview of points to be presented. Organization The speech includes an introduction, body and conclusion, organized in a specific format such as time, topic or cause and effect and these parts are connected throughout by clear transitions statements. Full outline and bibliography are present. Delivery The student presents a natural stance, uses appropriate gestures, makes meaningful and appropriate eye contact, responds to audience feedback with ease, uses voice, pace and volume to great effect, dresses appropriately for audience and topic and shows interest enthusiasm and confidence in the topic. Research The student cited more than two sources throughout the speech and revealed quality research through effective selection of facts and information presented. The student filled the time requirements well and addressed counter-arguments related to the topic. Conclusion The student summarized the points presented, restated the thesis or proposition, made a final plea by using a similar combination of techniques employed in the introduction and offered to take questions if appropriate. Level 3 Superior 87-93% Introduction The student prepares an introduction that is attention-getting and audience focused using a technique such as story-telling, anecdotal information, quotes and/or visual aids. The introduction also includes a clearly stated thesis or proposition and preview of points to be presented. Organization The speech includes an introduction, body and conclusion, organized in a specific format such as time, topic or cause and effect and these parts are connected throughout by clear transitions statements. Full outline and bibliography are present with no more than 2 mistakes. Organization The speech includes an unclear introduction, body and conclusion, and no clear organizational format such as time, topic or cause and effect and these parts are connected throughout by transitions that are one-word or phrases. Either there are no outline and bibliography present or they are incomplete and full of errors. Delivery Section IV Assessment #8 Speech Performance The student presents a problematic stance such as shifting constantly from footto-foot, uses repetitive meaningless gestures, makes little eye contact, does not respond to audience feedback, uses inappropriate voice, pace and volume, dresses inappropriately for audience and demonstrates little interest and confidence in the topic. Research The student cites no sources during the speech and reveals shaky research through selection of facts and information at times not topic appropriate. The student fails to fill the time requirements or drastically over-exceeds the time limits and addresses no counter-arguments related to the topic. Conclusion The student fails to adequately summarize the points presented or fails to restate the thesis or proposition and makes a weak or no final plea
