Originally founded in Sunderland by Herman
Nordstrom back in 1953, today Nordstrom is
the largest independent family owned timber
merchants in the city, offering quality
products and services throughout the north
east to the trade and public alike.
We are very proud of our well established
reputation for quality and service and our ethos
is accompanied with over 250 combined years of
experience and knowledge from our team of
dedicated staff.
We are also very proud to have been involved with many local
projects from football stadiums, open air museums, town halls
and new home developments. Timber is still our most versatile
and beautiful construction material and therefore forms the
core of our business.
We have made significant recent investments and changes to
provide a wider product range including the latest state of the
art technology of machinery and systems. An improved
showroom and sales area with more focussed services to assist
with the ever changing needs of trends and fashions.
We will endeavour to maintain our traditions whilst keeping an
eye on the future and all with a friendly approach that will
make you feel part of our family.

GENERAL TIMBERS
Our wide range of carcassing
timbers provide the perfect
material for structural applications
- roofing timbers, joists and timber
frame projects.
We have an extensive range of
decorative timbers including dado
rails, picture rails, architraves, frame
sections and mouldings of all
patterns.
From our fully covered yard in
Hendon there are both C16 and C24
strength graded timbers.
For outside we have treated fencing
materials and the Arbordeck decking
system providing everything you
need to create your outdoor room.
We carry a stock of standard sizes
with lengths up to 6.0 metres but can
provide you with any particular
requirement you may have. Our
range of dressed timber (PSE) is all
Scandinavian 5ths redwood and
therefore good quality and can be
used in many joinery applications.
Our fully stocked trade counter can
provide you with a vast array of
hardware, ironmongery and fixings
to complete the job.

JOINERY COMPONENTS
Our modern on-site joinery
shop offers flexible
manufacturing of many
quality joinery products to
bespoke sizes, including
staircases, windows, doors,
frames, gates and
mouldings.
We have state of the art
machinery combined with the
values and traditions of our
experienced joiners to ensure
a match for all aspects of
work required.
From staircases and sliding
sash box windows to
contemporary screens and
frames are just some of the
products we manufacture.
A machining service on
almost any pattern of timber
requirement is also available
to order.
If you can draw it, we will
endeavour to make it!
We also have a wide selection
of worktops, sinks and taps to
choose from, giving you the
opportunity to simply update
your kitchen without starting
from new.

qualities, inherent warmth and
