This week I will be sharing information related to volunteer registration, Davis Drive’s Hour of Code, interim reports, NJHS
gift wrapping, Yearbook updates, and the DDMS Giving Tree
Important Volunteer Information - Parents/grandparents/community members who wish to volunteer at DDMS must
complete the WCPSS Volunteer Program Application. All volunteers must submit to a background check. The application
can be completed Monday thru Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in our Media Center. If you have any questions,
please contact Mrs. Nelson in Student Services. Thank you.
The Hour of Code is an after school activity offered on December 10th from 3:00 - 4:15 pm. Students will be supervised
and guided through an Hour of Code activities. Please sign up your student on the form located on the Davis Drive website.
The last day to sign-up will be Tuesday, December 8...space is limited!
Interim reports went home this week in homeroom. Please make sure to review them with your child. Communication is
most important, so please follow-up with teachers or administration, any questions you may have.
The NJHS students will be hosting a gift wrapping event at the Cary Commons Barnes and Noble on Wednesday, December
9th from 4 - 10pm. All donations were be directly given to the Salvation Army and their angel tree project. If you looking to
buy gifts at Barnes and Noble this would be a perfect chance to help support our NJHS students and their efforts to support
our community.
PDQ and Panthology Yearbook are working together for a Family Fun Night, Thurs. Dec. 17th from 4:00-8:00pm. Let PDQ
know that you're supporting DDMS Yearbook when placing your order. Also, 8th Grade Yearbook Recognition Ads are due
Dec. 31st.
Please continue to support the DDMS Backpack Buddies Program. We are in need of specific items as we continue the
program after the holidays. The donation list has been updated and you can find the link on the school website.
Thank you for your generosity with the Giving Tree donations! We still have a few items we need as we added recipients
this past week. You can donate requested items by going to the link on the school and PTA websites. Please send in all items
to the front office by Wednesday, December 9, 2015. Thank you!
This week’s schedule:
 Monday, December 7th – Boys and Girls basketball have a home game against West Cary starting at 4:00
 Tuesday, December 8th – Battle of the Books, Rubiks Cubist, and Tutoring will all be held immediately after school.
The fall dance show will be held in the Davis Drive auditorium and will begin at 7:00. There is a band concert at
Green Hope High School starting at 7:30.
 Wednesday, December 9th – The following clubs will meet immediately after school student council, theater,
ecowarriors, and chess. The second night of the Fall dance show will be held in the Davis Drive auditorium and will
begin at 7:00.
 Thursday, December 10th – Davis Drive’s Hour of Code will take place immediately after school. Math, Debate,
and photography clubs will all meet after school. Tutoring will also take place immediately after school. The girls
and boys have an away basketball game at East Cary.
