Father Joe ’ s Week: Last Thursday morning I went to the Cathedral to pick up Fr. McKenna. We went to lunch at the Olive Garden. We hadn’t been there and both of us were surprised with the salad and pasta lunch that was quite good. Then I took Kevin on errands: Post Office, AAA, Drug Store, etc. We had a good time, and I got a few things, too. I dropped him off and came home…On Friday evening I went to

Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home on Long Pond for George

Weissinger’s wake. I had met some of the family a few months ago when I was called to anoint another family member in Hamlin while Fr. Spilly was away. We settled the readings and all, and they gave me lots of notes on George. He had a jewelry store in Brockport, and was on the USS Laffey at the battle for Okinawa…

Saturday morning we had George’s funeral, and his family did a nice job remembering him. We went to

Holy Sepulchre for burial—always a long ride. It was very cold in the cemetery, but the Navy honor guard, including a Lt. Commander, was without topcoats.

They did a lovely job…Saturday evening I went to St.

Theodore’s for supper. There was a large group there. It seems like all of them are getting ready to go to Florida for two weeks…Monday our regional pastoral leaders met at my house to do some planning. We are one of the few groups that still meet regularly. I hope we can have a penance service during Lent and a few other events…That afternoon I went to Unity to see a couple of parishioners, then went to the Bristol’s for supper and baptismal preparation. We had a great supper after watching Ben and Caleb playing Minecraft—none of us adults could understand it. After supper we looked at the video and planned for Zachary’s baptism. I love going to homes to prepare for baptism, especially when

I get to spend some time with them…Tuesday we had

Mass at the Landing in the afternoon. We miss you

Joan McGuinn! Wayne and I got along as best we could. It’s nice to have that Mass, with a good group…

Tuesday evening our planning group met with the

Buildings and Grounds committee…Wednesday morning after Mass I left for a couple of days in NYC with Fr. Bill Leone…God bless and have a good week!
