Conceptualized and organized Raza Summit. Raza Summit offered a space for Chicana/o
Latina/o students to come together, brainstorm ideas, and develop action plans to improve
retention and campus climate. Two major projects were implemented: A new website for El
Centro and the Chicano Latino Transfer Student Support Network during my tenure there.

Coordinated MEChA’s Parent Student Conference involved Latino parents and students from
the local area for a one-day motivational conference that promoted higher education and the
UCSC campus.
Step to College Mentor, served as a mentor to a high school senior that was not meeting her
English requirement and was unmotivated to graduate. After several meetings in a short time
span I became aware of her interests and encouraged her to write on those interests. Working
closely with the teacher and the student it made it possible for this student to present a
wonderful research project. She became engaged with her project and graduated.
