Registration
If you are sophomore or above you may register with an advisor or online.
If you are a freshman or would like to register with an advisor be sure to
make an appointment.
Make out a tentative class schedule before you meet with your advisor to
register; be sure to include second and third course choices.

Course Look up tips
Use the Core Curriculum box to scroll down and find Core classes for such
courses as: Science, Math, Humanities, Social & Behavioral Science and
Visual & Performing Arts. Course Lookup will automatically select “Open” classes
as the default.
Transfer Credits
If you have credits to transfer, make sure your official transcripts have been
sent into the Records Office.
If you are thinking about taking a class, make sure you fill out a Transfer
Credit Pre-approval form with your advisor.

24/30 Rule
Once you are within 30 hrs of graduation, 24 of the 30 hours must be taken
here at UTD, this leaves 6 hrs that may be transferred in from another
institution.
Degree audits
Remember you are responsible for knowing what is on your degree plan,
however…
Stop by and see your advisor at least once a semester to update your degree
plan and make sure you are on the right track.
Students with 75 credit hrs accumulated will be required to see their advisor
before registration.
Degree plan changes
You will be locked into the catalog year and degree plan determined by the date
you began taking classes at UTD.
Teacher Certification
All Teacher Certification students should make an appointment with their
certification advisor in Teacher Development (in addition to meeting with
their academic advisor) once a semester for certification requirement updates
(972-883-2730).
Change of Major
Looking to change your major? Meet with the advisor for the NEW major.
Advanced vs. Upper Level Elective
Advanced Elective - 3000 or 4000 level course outside of your major.
