Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples Named New President of Texas Oil & Gas Association
Austin – The Board of Directors of the Texas Oil & Gas Association (TXOGA) has named Todd Staples
as its new president. Currently serving as Texas Commissioner of Agriculture, Staples will replace Rob
Looney who is retiring at the end of 2014 after 26 years with the Association.
The Board of Directors conducted a national search to identify and select Commissioner Staples as
TXOGA's next president.
“Innovations and investments by TXOGA’s 5,500 members are transforming the Lone Star State, creating
jobs and providing opportunities for all Texans. It will be my honor and privilege to work with this
dynamic industry at a time when Texas energy production is anchoring our state’s economy and
bolstering our nation’s energy security,” said Commissioner Staples. “The world is watching as Texas
cements its place as a global leader in the energy arena. I’m humbled to have been selected to work with
TXOGA’s dedicated staff to represent this membership.”

will serve TXOGA’s members well,” said Jonny Jones, chairman of TXOGA’s board of directors.
Before being elected to his current statewide post as Texas Commissioner of Agriculture, Staples served
as a Texas State Senator, a State Representative and as Mayor Pro Tem of his local city council in
Palestine, Texas. Staples graduated with honors from Texas A&M with a degree in Agricultural
Economics. He and his wife, Janet, have four children and four grandchildren.

Texas Oil & Gas Association (TXOGA) is a statewide trade association with approximately 5,500 members representing every
facet of the Texas oil and gas industry including small independents and major producers. TXOGA members account for over
90 percent of all crude oil and natural gas produced in Texas; they operate a vast majority of the State’s pipeline mileage and
gas processing capacity; and they are responsible for a preponderance of the State’s refining capacity. Founded in 1919,
TXOGA is the oldest and largest group in the State representing petroleum interests and continues to serve as the only
organization which embraces all segments of the industry.
