DR. SIDNEY B. SPERRY
Dr. Sidney B. Sperry was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was
educated at the University of Utah (A.B.) And the University of Chicago (M.A., Ph.D.),
specializing in Old Testament Languages and Literature.
He has also studied in Palestine and Europe and is well acquainted with Biblical
Archaeology and with many excavators of Bible lands.
For over thirty years Dr. Sperry has taught Old Testament history, literature and
languages at Brigham Young University. He is widely known throughout the Church for
his lectures and writings on scriptural and doctrinal subjects. In 1962 the Alumni
Association presented him with the Karl G. Maeser Distinguished Teaching Award.
Dr. Sperry is a member of the American Society of Biblical Literature and
Exegesis and is the Brigham Young University representative of the American Schools
of Oriental Research.
