Parents and Guardians:
Please complete and hand in the attached Permission Form if your child will be attending any on site
OLV service activity without your presence. The Youth Ministry Sign –up Sheet and Permission
Form can be returned at your child’s next faith formation session or to the Parish Office by
October 27.
Parish Faith Formation & Prayer/Worship Service Opportunities
□ Youth Ministry Team (Grades 9+): meets monthly to plan and host events for OLV parish
youth (social, worship, service).
□ Catechist Assistant for Grades K-9 Faith Formation sessions. (Grades 10+), September April during Sunday morning sessions, 10:30-11:30am (K-9)
□ Youth and Adult Choir Vocalist or Instrumentalist
□ Cantor (Lead parishioners in song during Masses. Must also be in choir)
□ Lector (Readers at Mass, Grades 9+)
□ Altar Server
□ Greeter at Mass
□ Ushers at Mass
□ A/V Minister (runs PowerPoint during Mass.)
□ Youth Ministry Lenten Stations of the Cross: Date & Time TBD; participants must be able
to attend rehearsals/planning sessions (usually 3-4, 90 min. meetings; weekday evenings,
dates/times TBD), prior to the Stations presentation.
Please note: Youth interested in serving as lectors, greeters, ushers, altar servers and A/V
ministers need to attend a brief training session, prior to serving. The schedules for these
ministries are distributed quarterly; you will be scheduled the beginning off the quarter after you are
trained. If you are already trained and serving, please indicate above.

Parish Service Opportunities
□ Frank Runyeon’s Performance at OLV ,Sat. Nov. 23, 2pm (Required for all in Gr 7-10 )
□ Take pictures/videos for Parish website (must have your own camera)
□ greeter/usher
□ Tech Assistant: Take photographs and or videotape at parish events (TBA), to be put on
Parish Website (must have own camera).
□ Parish Activity Assistant: Volunteer to help out at a parish group event.
□ “Souperbowl of Caring” after all Masses on Super Bowl Weekend, Jan. 31/ Feb. 1, 2015.
Help collect food and monetary donations after one of our weekend Masses, to benefit Troy’s
Roarke Center. (Max of 4 youth per Mass. Youth volunteers are asked to please attend the
Mass they select!)

□ Holy Thursday Potluck Dinner Hospitality following 6pm Mass, Holy Thursday, April 3.
Community Service/Leadership Opportunities (Coordinated through OLV Youth Ministry).
□ Joseph’s House Winter Walk: Sat., December 6, 2-4 pm (You will receive more info. closer
to the event.)
□ Serve a Weekend Meal at a Local Homeless Shelter - time and location TBD (food will be
bought and cooked by our members of our Parish Social Justice Committee). *Service Action
□ Regional Food Bank, 965 Albany-Shaker Rd., Latham, Saturday, March 14, 2015, 9:30 –
11:30am. A parent must accompany youth to/from the activity.
□ Easter Nursing Home Visitation: Saturday, March 28, 2015. Meet in the Church Gathering
area at 12:30. (A parent must accompany youth to/from the nursing home).
□ Jr. High Work Camp w/ St. Peter’s & St. Clement’s, Saratoga & St. Michael’s, S. Glens
Falls, August 5-7, 2015 @ Christ the King Spiritual Life Center, Greenwich: a 3-day
service immersion experience serving the Saratoga and Greater Capital District area. (For
youth entering Grades 7-9 in September ‘15; specific dates and location TBA) *Service Action
□ Learning Team (S.A.L.T.) a five-day service immersion experience, sponsored by the Albany
Diocese, during the summer, in July or early August. (For youth in grades 10-12; specific dates
& location TBA. This is also a great leadership opportunity!)

□ Volunteers with specific skills (painting and housekeeping) are needed.
□ Consider you and your family donating a weekend meal to the shelter. The meal can be
prepared at the shelter or off site and delivered to the shelter.
□ Hold a neighborhood drive or community group drive The following items are needed year
round: new and gently used towels, washcloths, blankets, twin sized sheet sets and sleeping
bags; men’s underwear (boxers, no size small); socks; deodorant and razors.
