Tier 1 Point of View Project- Quiz Grade 1. Create four squares on your poster and label them: first person point of view example, first person point of view writing based on picture, third person point of view example, third person point of view writing based on picture. 2. Read the passages below: a. Taylor Swift looked into the crowd, her palms became sweaty, and her heart raced. Even though this is what she did for a living, she was still nervous every time she took the stage. “I hope I do well tonight. I don’t want to disappoint my fans.” b. Making my way up the mountain, I couldn’t help but smile. Hours ago, the top had seemed so far away, but now it was coming into view, I knew that I would be able to reach my goal. I knew my father would be proud. He taught me all I needed to know. c. During the math test, Susie was confidant and at ease. She knew she would make an A, and she finished her test with a smile. Billy, though, was not so happy. He was struggling, and he now wished he had studied harder. They both finished at the same time. “I flunked,” Billy said. 3. Write the number of the picture in one of your boxes. 6. Choose to be one of the people in the picture and write three sentences using first person in the appropriate square. 7. Write which one you chose in the perspective square. 3. List as many perspectives (different narrators) as you can that could be used to write about the picture in the perspective square. 4. Pick a perspective for first person point of view and write four sentences in that square. 5. Write four sentences using limited third person point of view 6. Write four sentences using omniscient third person point of view. 7. On the back, decide which story’s point of view you like the best and explain why. Tier 3 Point of View Project- Quiz Grade 1. Create four squares on your poster and label them: Perspectives First person point of view- use either innocent eye or unreliable narrator Innocent eye- The story is told through the eyes of a child (his/her judgment being different from that of an adult). Unreliable narrator- a narrator who can't be trusted. Either from ignorance or self-interest, with a bias, makes mistakes, or even lies. Limited third person point of view Third person objective point of view- Third person, told as if from a camera that follows the characters. Only what is said and done is recorded. 2. Choose one of the pictures from the list. Write which one you chose in the perspective square. 3. List as many perspectives (different narrators) as you can that could be used to write about the picture in the perspective square. 4.
