Scott and Balt wrote, engineered and produced their entire self-titled debut album (Geffen) due to hit stores on April 5th. Blessed with the gift of rhyme and her 16 year old instinct for honesty, fan_3 paves the way for a new generation of pop artists with her debut Geffen album. She calls herself fan _3 because that's exactly what she is: a 100% all-out fan of great musical artists, especially female trios like TLC, Destiny's Child and the Dixie Chicks. Her album Let Me Clear My Throat is due in stores in April. 08 • UMPG UMPG Nashville’s Pat Higdon signed Blue Merle to a publishing deal and spent close to a year developing and working with the band while pushing for and securing their label deal with Island Def Jam. The band are already the most added at Hot A/C on the heels of the release of their debut album, Burning in the Sun (IDJ). Blue Merle is a unique blend of musical colors. While the instrumentation leans toward bluegrass, the sound is resolutely and refreshingly a new take on Pop/Rock with a nod to Coldplay and Dave Matthews Band. Produced by Stephen Harris (U2, Dave Matthews Band, Kula Shaker), its sound is immediately inviting and disarmingly nuanced. The music carries the sort of inventiveness and depth of the feeling found only in the best rock songwriting. With Blue Merle opening for the likes of J.J. Cale, Badly Drawn Boy, and playing festivals ranging from Farm Aid to Bonnaroo, this ecelectic band could turn into the diverse Nashville rock scene’s development story of the year. The Hip-Hop Violinist Miri Ben Ari is “The Hip-Hop Violinist.” Her co-write of “Jesus Walks” on Kanye West’s The College Dropout garnered GRAMMY nominations for Best Rap Song and Song of the Year. Miri worked closely with producer Kanye West writing, producing, arranging and performing all of the strings on the smash debut album for the superstar rapper-producer. Miri is the centerpiece of Twista’s smash single and video “Overnight Celebrity.” Miri has been touring as a featured artist with Kanye throughout the U.S. and Europe. Miri has been in the studio creating her debut Hip Hop/R&B album, a fusion of her soulful strings with hard-edged hip-hop production. Kanye West has lent production and rhymes to several tracks on her album, and will release it on his label through Universal Records. Early indications are that 2005 should be another solid year of earnings growth. Our team continues to market our writers and their catalogs though innovative packages and the use of technology. The Universal R&B 20 disc box-set has just been completed. This package is a companion to our Pop box set, and will feature such song titles: “Turn On Your Love Light”, “Respect”, “Hurt So Bad”, “Soul Man”, “Ain’t No Sunshine”, “Let’s Stay Together”, “Midnight Train To Georgia” to name but a few. This package will be made available to music supervisors, advertisers, and film music executives. "It's changing a little bit. I think we're getting better. Everyone who has heard the new songs is saying [the next album is] going to be even better than the first one and that's the natural thing that should happen," he said. U2 producer Flood and Swervedriver producer Alan Moulder will work with the Killers to demo new material once they complete dates in Japan. The band have completed three songs so far including ‘I Won't Let You Down, ‘Daddy's Eyes’ and ‘It's Only Natural’. With a gold selling debut album in New Zealand and collaborations with The Beatnutz and Inspectah Deck under his belt, New Zealand's undisputed battle MC champion Mareko has just unleashed his epic debut 'White Sunday' on the Australian market. Far from it in fact, with the D-Konz already confirmed on the national Big Day Out tour alongside the Beastie Boys and The Streets and the follow up to 2002's record breaking 'Elimination' currently being prepared, 2005 will be the D-Konz biggest yet. 22 • UMPG Not to be outdone, twenty year old singer-songwriter Aaradnha will spend 2005 readying her debut album for a late 2005/early2006 release.
