We are able to offer various schemes to suit all contractors and are able to offer product guarantees up to 30 years for our ranges of: • Damp proofing • Timber treatments • Waterproofing • Thor Helical range of products. Wykamol can also offer back up guarantees for all of the above through our Wykamol guarantee scheme which is open to all our approved contractors. Wykamol contractors who have attended our specific training courses also have access to Construction Guarantee Services a unique scheme see details below. All CGS contractors are independently vetted and only contractors showing a high degree of technical competence, full knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations to protect the customer and financial stability over several years or have been otherwise financially approved, are eligible for membership and able to offer the security of insurance. CGS offer insured guarantees with an insurance certificate specific to your property and issued by an FSA authorised and regulated UK insurance company. 70% of all contractors go out of business within 20 years and, though CGS contractors are considerably below the national average, because of the quality of the contractors allowed into membership, for a very small one-off premium you can insure against even this eventuality. All CGS contractors have achieved what are probably the hardest approval standards in the industry, ensuring that members have an enviable position within the industry. They are held in the highest respect amongst specifiers, local authorities, housing associations, church councils and national institutions. *or such shorter period as specified in the contractor's guarantee. WARNING What is CGS Formed over 12 years ago, CGS as a company supports its members’ guarantees by arranging for them to be insured, at the request of the customer, by Millburn Insurance Co Ltd, a UK based FSA authorised and regulated insurance company. A small one-off fee can buy insurance for up to 20 years for remedial timber treatment, damp treatment, wall ties and lateral restraints, up to 12 years for Shire Piling and up to 10 years for structural waterproofing* and QuickBase. Many contractors offer “insurance-backed” guarantees but this is invariably an annual insurance in the name of the guarantee company, does not relate to your property and if the annual fee is not paid then no protection is in place. If it dosen’t include IPT ( Insurance Premium Tax) it isn’t insurance. CGS is an Appointed Representative of Millburn Insurance Company Limited and is a regulated company under the Insurance Mediation Directive 2000. www.cgsins.co.uk All major credit cards accepted. This is because contractors are recognising the economies of a ‘low disturbance’ approach to in-situ repair, as opposed to the more established ‘scrap and replace’ practices – increasingly deemed wasteful of valuable materials, as well as being responsible for the unnecessary destruction of many historic structures. This one-day course provides a practical insight into the methods and materials used in the repair of timbers. Cavity walls have been a common feature of buildings in the UK for over one hundred years. Two leaves of brick or stonework are held together using metal straps or ‘wall ties.’ The cavities between the two leaves of masonry provide an effective barrier to water penetration and also act as an insulation layer. Course Programme • Introduction – A brief history of resins and their uses • Research and Development • Selling the Low Disturbance approach to Specifiers, Engineers, Architects, Builders, Listed Home Owners and Public Buildings. • Examples and Job Costs • The Materials – Demonstration • The Sales Opportunities • Type A and B Repairs • TRS Type Repairs and Practical • Surveying and Measuring • Sales Tools, Materials and Media In some circumstances these wall ties can corrode or fail. Failure can manifest itself as cracking in the external leaf of masonry, structural movement, or in severe cases, the collapse of sections of masonry. To combat this problem, repair strategies have been developed. These usually involve the installation of new remedial wall ties through the outside leaf of masonry into the internal leaf. The original wall ties are then removed or isolated from the structure to prevent further damage to the building. In some special circumstances, it may be possible to leave the existing ties in place. Subjects include: Structural Restraint This definition covers a great number of structural repair techniques that can be utilised to repair or restrain masonry walls. Unwanted movement can occur in buildings for a great many reasons, these may include: • Ground movement or subsidence. • Inadequately restrained or tied walls. • Movement brought on by water ingress and timber decay into the structure. • Failed lintels or building materials. • Movement fatigue. • Mechanical impact or disturbance. In all these examples a structural surveyor may recommend some form of mechanical restraint as part of the remedial repair All major credit cards accepted. Training Course Six Training Course Seven Thor Helical Surveyors’ Training Course Technicians’ Training Course This two day course provides an introduction to masonry defects, their diagnosis and the preparation of appropriate remedial schemes using Thor Helical Remedial Systems and Shire Piles and Stabilizers. The course also includes sessions on identifying market opportunities, estimating and costing projects and the production of digital overlay project designs on scheme photographs using the Serif DrawPlus design package. Provides information and guidance to technicians with some experience, or those embarking on a career in the remedial industry with enough background knowledge on the common and recognised industry methods of attending to damp-proofing and timber treatment problems that occur in buildings. On successful completion of the course, delegates will be provided with Thor Helical Remedial Approved Surveyor Certification. Qualification of Thor Remedial Surveyors is one of the requirements for contractors wishing to attain “Thor Helical Remedial Approved Contractor” status which carries the associated benefits of project insurance, listing and accreditation on the Thor Helical web site and project leads via Thor Helical marketing activities. The course is accredited by the ABE – Association of Building Engineers The PCA uses experts recognised for their experience of training industry operatives and technicians, for this one-and-a-half-day course. Subjects include: • Introduction • Health & Safety: Assessments and PPE • DPC Installation: Theory and practical • Pressure Injection: high and low • Injection Mortar • Transfusion Timber Treatments • Wood Boring Insects: Roof Voids & Floor Treatment • Fungal Decay: dry and wet rot Technician Training Exam optional, separate booking on the afternoon of the second day. tel: 0845 400 66 66 93 94 www.wykamol.com - salesdepartment@wykamol.com Wykamol at the Home building renovating show - NEC Wykamol are continually hitting the road to promote its unique property preservation solutions - attending a series of shows.
