Advanced Worldspan Car Select Lesson: Car Select General Description This lesson covers the Worldspan Car Select system. Car Select stores car availability, rates, rules, and detailed policy information for more than 40 car companies worldwide. Some car companies offer AccessPlus capabilities. These vehicle displays are processed directly from the car company's database. Instant confirmation and rate verification are received with each AccessPlus transaction. Objectives At the end of this lesson, you will be able to • • • • • • • Determine car company codes Find car locations Locate car associate GRS pages and obtain individual information Display car availability with continuation entries Sell car segments with options Access and interpret car rules and details Modify and cancel a confirmed car segment Topics Covered These topics are covered: Car Select General Description Objectives Topics Covered Car Codes Car Rental Locations Car Select Associates and GRS 2691 11/01 Page 10-1 Car Select Advanced Worldspan Associate Marketplace Car Reference Guide Integrated Availability AccessPlus - Direct Access Availability Car Availability Continuation Entries Modify Car Availability Display Car Source RC-BEST for Car Source Car Availability from a PNR Car Default Record Car Rule Display Car Detail Display Car Options Steps To Sell Car Select Sell from Availability Direct Sell Memo Confirm Direct Sell Memo Confirm Modify/Cancel Car Segments Car Codes All car rental companies have a 2 character code. The codes in this table are used in the availability request to view rates for these categories. 5. Redisplay HELP CRG. GR Page 10-6 11/01 Advanced Worldspan Car Select 6. Access and review the acceptable rate plans. Within each rate category, car associates can load one or more rate plans. CRG/P Worldspan assumes the daily rate plan. Rate plan codes can be used in the availability request to specify other rate plans (e.g., weekly, PX or weekend, PW). 7. Redisplay HELP CRG. GR 8. Access and review the vehicle type table. CRG/V The vehicle type table is the car industry standard for car types. Vehicle codes are created by selecting a character from each column. For example, the code for a mini-van with automatic transmission and air conditioning is MVAR. The CLASS column refers to the size of the car. The TYPE column describes the vehicle. The table can be displayed at any time by entering CRG/V or using the tab prompts in the availability display. CRG/V followed by the car code can be used to decode the car type. 9. Each participant has an identifier that precedes the associate chain code in availability. Car availability displays remain active after the PNR is ended, queued, or ignored. Only a new initial car entry ignores the display. Cars can be requested 343 days in advance. Arrival and drop times are mandatory. An integrated car availability display consists of Car Source, AccessPlus, and nonAccessPlus associates. • AccessPlus • Non - AccessPlus • Car Source identified by a dollar sign ($) identified by a blank identified by an end item (#) Activity: Car Availability 1. AccessPlus - Direct Access Availability Direct Access availability includes AccessPlus and Car Source participants when availability is requested using the /AP-D option. AccessPlus availability is displayed from the Worldspan database. The sell entry is sent to the AccessPlus associate’s system. The rate is verified and a confirmation number is returned before end transaction. An AccessPlus indicator ($XX$) is returned and appended to the car segment. An AccessPlus booking requires a name (/N-), arrival time (/ARR-), and a drop time (/DT-). These items are assumed from PNR segments or manually entered if the PNR does not contain an itinerary. An AccessPlus booking can include up to four options in the availability entry. You can request an intermediate size car and larger sized vehicles, air conditioning, and automatic shift with the entry /VICAR*. If the communications link is down, the response is: LINK UNAVAILABLE. The sell entry is then edited and sold through the Worldspan car database. Activity: AccessPlus Availability 1. Car Availability from a PNR Car availability can be accessed from a flight segment in a PNR. The arrival date and city in the flight segment are assumed. The arrival time is determined from the flight segment and the drop time and location are determined from the following segment. If a segment does not follow, the pickup location is assumed to be the drop location and a drop time must be manually added. Page 10-18 11/01 Advanced Worldspan Car Select The system edits the arrival and drop time against the hours of operation and the earliest/latest pick up time listed in the car rule. Activity: Car availability from a PNR 1. Request car availability for segment 1. CRAS1 The rates are listed from lowest to highest.
