TEMPO Networks and the Ministry of Education Inspire St. Maarten Youth with
“Badness Outta Style - TEMPO Kids Rule” School Tour
Phillipsburg, St. Maarten. During its recent TEMPO Turns 7 celebrations in St. Maarten, TEMPO
delivered powerful and uplifting messages in its popular Badness Outta Style Schools program to both
primary and secondary school students at the Prins Willem Alexander, Marie Genevieve de Weever,
Martin Luther King, Lionel Conner, St. Maarten Vocational Training and St. Maarten Academy PSVE
schools.
During the tour, TEMPO brought prominent entertainers, educators, administrators, government
officials, and representatives from the corporate sector to present encouraging messages, including:
Hon. Silveria Jacobs, Minister of Education;
Hon. Roland Duncan, Minister of Justice;
Hon. Romain Laville, Member of Parliament in charge of Education;
Head of Public Education Services Gwendolyn Davis-Holiday;
Head Inspector for Education, Culture, Youth, and Sports Affairs Priscilla Bell;
Suraj Ramdas, Marketing - The Telem Group of Companies;
Duane Stephenson (Entertainer);
Khori Francis, a.k.a Ziggy Ranking (Entertainer);
JJ & Friends Television Show;
Young Devyn (Child Performer).
The presentations where hosted by Ricky Bertie (AKA Da Phoxx) and local DJ personalities, G-Money and
Versatile from Laser 101 and DJ Pauly of Tropix 105.5 FM
Excited, the students also themselves performed for TEMPO through music and dance presentations.
“Emphasizing principles of discipline, dedication, responsibility and respect, associating them with
popular and respected figures and entertainers and delivering them in a relatable and exciting way,
Badness Outta Style directs students to fulfill their potential and walk the best path possible to
adulthood”, said Frederick A. Morton, Jr., TEMPO Founder, Chairman & CEO.
The tours will be promoted and televised on TEMPO in December and January. The shows portray the
enthusiasm students have for the TEMPO message of aspiring to greatness, working to achieve, and not
being discouraged by those who interfere with their dreams. “We are pleased to have partnered with
TEMPO to bring its popular Badness Outta Style schools program to St. Maarten, which we have desired
for so long, having seen the tours in the USVI, Bahamas, St. Kitts-Nevis and other islands and we know
that it will have lasting impact on the students” said MP Romain Laville.
“The Badness Outta Style schools program is an amazing tool to encourage our students and we are
thrilled to partner with TEMPO to promote these encouraging lessons and we know that the shows
produced from the tours will continue to cement the principle that “Badness is Out Of Style” among the
youth of St. Maarten. The Ministry plans to collaborate with TEMPO to assure that the program is taken
to the other schools as well as to formally introduce the TEMPO JJ & Friends learning kits”, said Minister
of Education the Hon. Sylveria Jacobs. Recently, TEMPO introduced its TEMPO Kids JJ & Friends
Learning Kits initiative, a series of culturally relevant educational learning materials
(www.gottempo.com/tempokids).
The children enthusiastically embraced the school tours, which reflect the principles TEMPO Networks is
built upon, and which it has chosen to share to the world through St. Maarten. Young Devyn explained
the success with the words: “‘Cause you know why? TEMPO is in style, badness is out of style.”
During the tours the students of several schools took the opportunity to recognize a few of their own
teachers. One such was Judy Gittens of the Prins Willem Alexander who said “I am so honored that my
students recognize not only my efforts but those of the other faculty members. I am equally honored
that Tempo has chosen to use the opportunity to visit the various schools around the island. It is rare
that the students are this excited, and already I can see that there will be a few on whom the impact of
this program will last for a very long time.”
TEMPO plans to promote and air the shows in December and January.
