APPROVED NON-PROGRAMMABLE CALCULATORS Revised November 9, 2005 The Faculty of Engineering has a policy for permitting “approved non-programmable calculators only” in selected tests and exams. A faculty member can choose to invoke this policy in a particular course and will indicate this in either the course outline and/or by written (email) communication prior to tests or exams. When a restricted non-programmable calculator is specified, the student must use one of the following approved calculators: • CASIO FX300MS Plus Scientific (Earlier FX300 models also ok) • Texas Instruments TI-30Xa • Sharp EL510RB Scientific Calculator • Sharp EL520WBBK Scientific Calculator • Media SS1000 • Media SS650 Whilst the policy only applies to tests and exams, it is recommended that the student use the same calculator for assignments during the course so that one is fully familiar with its use and capabilities when it is time for tests or exams.
