AMERICAN FILM INSTITUTE JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION: DEPARTMENT: LOCATION: Assistant, Thesis Production Finance Thesis Production, AFI Conservatory Los Angeles Campus PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant, Thesis Production Finance is responsible for providing support to the Thesis Production staff, mentors, faculty and Fellows and assists in organizing and reviewing all aspects of Thesis Production Finance. PRINCIPAL DUTIES: • Update and distribute financial information, reports and other documentation required for Second Year thesis production, as directed. • Attend Budget Lock meetings at the request of the Manager, Thesis Production Finance. • Coordinate and schedule cost report review meetings for each thesis team. • Collect and audit production cost reports for Second Year thesis production. • In collaboration with the Manager, Thesis Production Finance maintain and distribute an up-to-date thesis production financial summary. • Process and record thesis project transfer requests and related purchase orders and vendor payments made directly by AFI. • Prepares SAG-AFTRA and DGA deferred payment timecards for submission to Entertainment Partners. • Assist Fellows in the preparation of thesis financial documentation. • Assist the Manager, Thesis Production Finance to review all production documentation in preparation for delivery. • Provide administrative support to Thesis Production staff. • Creates and manages Thesis Production databases as necessary. • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED: • Bachelor’s degree required. • Minimum two years Production entertainment Accounting or related Administrative experience. • Knowledge of basic process, terminology and procedures of motion picture production, television and/or other media required. • Experience implementing contractual terms, including SAG-AFTRA and DGA provisions. • Experience auditing Production Reports and Cost Reports. • Strong computer skills with expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel and Quicken/Quickbooks software. • Working knowledge of Movie Magic Budgeting, Movie Magic Scheduling, and Showbiz SAG-AFTRA Time Cards software; • Familiarity with production forms such as call sheets and production reports, location agreements, contracts, releases and clearance documentation is a plus. • Exceptionally detail-oriented with the proven ability to handle numerous tasks with appropriate follow-up and reporting activities while not losing sight of the big picture. • Can work independently while being an integral member of a high-functioning team. • • • • • • • • Proven project management skills with the ability to take a project from conception through completion with minimal supervision. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts and procedures in simplistic terms.
