Scholarships Guide
Transform
Your Future
Achieve your
study ambitions
with an RMIT
scholarship
Each year thousands of scholarships
are awarded to new students across
RMIT programs.
Scholarships can help to cover study costs such as textbooks,
materials, rent and living expenses. Some RMIT scholarships
are academic-based; others are equity-based according to your
personal circumstances. These include financial disadvantages,
relocating from rural areas to Melbourne, being an Aboriginal
and/or Torres Strait Islander, or living with a long-term medical
condition that impacts your study.
While some scholarships are only available for particular study
areas, there are general scholarships applicable to all study areas.
How to find the right scholarship
Browse through the scholarships on offer in this guide and go to
www.rmit.edu.au/Scholarships to learn the details.
You may need to apply through the Victorian Tertiary Admission
Centre (VTAC) or directly to RMIT. If you are eligible for multiple
scholarships, please apply for all by the due dates.
While RMIT endeavours to grant as many scholarships as
possible, not all applications will be successful. Applications are
assessed and ranked according to the selection criteria.
For more information about the application process,
visit each individual scholarship webpage.

Student Profile
I gave Year 12 everything, and ended up getting the RMIT Achievement
Scholarship.
This has helped me with my dream to live and study in Melbourne.
I’m from Adelaide, so this scholarship helped me to move and afford living
costs. Now I’m living around the corner, so I can walk to uni every day.
It’s amazing.
Scholarships reward the hard workers and the disadvantaged, creating an
even playing field.

Student Profile
My scholarship meant I could move from South Australia to study at
RMIT. Without it, I had no money and nowhere to live. It helps with the
little things, like travelling and making sure I can get to uni every day.
It’s good for my academic life, but is also important for my social life. It
means I can get involved and make friends that last for life.
It’s a big thing to have Aboriginal students complete their tertiary
education, but it should be a given.

Student Profile
My scholarship allowed me to feel confident and comfortable starting
my course. It meant I could work less and focus on my study, rather
than financial pressures.
I love the diversity of the medical radiation program. Being able to study
three streams has allowed me to grow an understanding of medical
radiation as a whole. Having access to many labs creates a practical
learning environment, and helps students understand what working in
the clinical arena is like.
When you’re applying for a scholarship, make sure you show you
understand what the course is, why you want to study it and that you
are passionate about it.

Student Profile
Scholarships are important because some students might not have the
same advantages as others. It’s really useful for people like me, who
haven’t been in Australia long and have difficulty with English.
It encourages students to do better in their studies and gives them
support, by having someone say ‘you’re doing good’.

Student Profile
My scholarship allows me to focus on my studies and look after my
mum who is ill at the moment. I’ve had to fly home quite a bit, and that’s
expensive. This has helped me to not be broke and starving!
The Bachelor of Arts course is intense and time consuming. If I had to
work I couldn’t focus on my study – it would be so hard. The payments
help me pay for my art supplies, rent, groceries and things like that.
Scholarships are important because they allow people to study to the
best of their ability.

Student Profile
My scholarship made it a million times easier to move from the country
to the city. Living in the RMIT village rent-free was fantastic.
If you’re like me, a country student moving away from where you’ve
always had your family around you, and coming to the big city – it can
be a very difficult thing.
The scholarship helped me to settle in, and meant I could study what I
really wanted to do.
