Our Road Team provides information on safe driving tips,
sharing the road with trucks, hands-on experience with a
tractor-trailer, career opportunities and facts on highway
safety issues.

THE FLORIDA ROAD TEAM is the cornerstone of the
Florida Trucking Association’s safety and public awareness program.
THE FLORIDA TRUCKING ASSOCIATION
mirrors the trucking industry’s primary interest in
safety around big trucks on the road. Simply put,
unless a load arrives at its destination safely, nothing
else matters.
We’re professional trucking executives, drivers,
safety managers, mechanical technicians, and
industry partners. We all have a vested interest in
highway safety for both the trucking industry and the
motoring public. That’s why FTA sponsors the Florida
Road Team.
The Florida Road Team is a group that delivers
high-quality, hands-on presentations for driving
safety and trucking industry careers.
Each professional truck
driver on the team is
an example of trucking
at its best — articulate,
knowledgeable and
dedicated. Each driver
is selected based on
safety record, leadership
abilities, concern for the
image of the trucking industry, and commitment to
continuous improvement. The Road Team drivers,
supported by their sponsoring companies, take
a few days away from their work each month to
travel and speak to various groups about highway
safety and the trucking industry. These professionals
speak to civic and traffic clubs, classrooms, and local
businesses across our state.
Whether the Road Team is
giving a safety presentation
to students, or talking with
young adults about career
opportunities, they always
make an indelible impression.
Using their own unique
experiences as professional
truck drivers themselves, Road Team members use a
variety of techniques to connect with an audience. Each
member is specially trained on teaching driving safety, as
well as talking about trucking safety issues in a way that
makes sense to the layperson.
During a Road Team “No-Zone” presentation,
participants typically:
> Get a feel for the immense size of the big rig through
hands-on exploration
> See up close the effect of a tire blowout as they hold a
yards-long tire tread
> Learn about the blind spots around a truck and how to
avoid them
> View a dynamic 15-minute video that illustrates the
“No Zone”
> See what a trucker sees as they climb into the driver’s
seat and take a look around from the cab interior
> Come away with an unforgettable experience they’ll
never forget!
