VISITOR FACT SHEET
Introduction
Hi there
With FOR THE LOVE OF THE FORCE: AN INDEPENDENT STAR WARS FAN CONVENTION just around
the corner, we wanted to send out a detailed information sheet to make your visit more enjoyable.
This document outlines all you need to know about the event and is designed to help you plan your
visit in advance.
Whilst some sections of this document may not be relevant to you, we suggest you read the whole
content as it will give advice and suggestions that will allow you to make the best of your visit.
We have spent an entire year working on this event, adding new attractions, building new areas etc,
and for this reason it is only now we can release this fact sheet. Things have changed and cropped
up continuously over the last few months so it would have been impossible to have an accurate fact
sheet in place before now. We hope it answers all of your questions.
We hope you have a great time at the event.
May the force be with you!
‘For the Love of the Force’ management team.
'FOR THE LOVE OF THE FORCE' is not an official Star Wars convention and it is not authorised by or
connected with Lucasfilm.’

1. GETTING THERE
1.1 Location

Exhibition Centre on the 4th-6th December 2015. The Address is
Bowlers Exhibition Centre
Longbridge Road
Trafford Park
Manchester
M17 1SN
Situated Just 2 minutes from Junction 9 on the M60 and the same distance from the Trafford Centre
it is ideally positioned and is easily accessible for visitors travailing locally and nationally. The maps
below show where Bowlers (BEC) is in relation to Manchester, and a close up of Trafford park.
1.2 Travel Tips
Please be aware that Trafford Park gets very busy at weekends. The convention is on 4th-6th
December and many people will be visiting the Trafford Centre. We strongly advise you set off in
plenty of time to ensure you reach your destination ahead of schedule.
On Saturday the 5th December Manchester United will be playing a home game which has a
scheduled kick off for 3pm. The Trafford area will be very heavy with traffic on Saturday afternoon.
We cannot predict what roads or areas will be congested, but are making you aware of this so you
can take this into consideration when planning your journey. It is also the start of the Christmas
shopping period.
Each day of our convention is split into two sessions. Session one is 7am to 3pm and session two is
3.30pm to 11pm. Each session will have 3500 visitors. As you can imagine the 3pm – 3.30pm
crossover will mean a lot of people arriving and leaving at the same time. We ask that you take this
into consideration when planning your journey and consider and respect all the other visitors.
We advise you wear comfortable waterproof clothing whilst not in the venue as it is winter.
1.3 Parking
FLF and Bowlers management had arranged extra parking at Event City, but 2 days’ notice withdrew
this facility

2. TICKET INFORMATION
2.1 Sessions
Early on in the planning of this event we made the decision to split each day into two sessions. This
was done to ensure that visitors got the best from the event and to ensure visitors were not over
cramped and had the space to see and experience all the attractions.
Many conventions sell tickets to capacity which results in mass overcrowding. We split the days so
we purposely do not reach capacity and this should help ease congestion and overcrowding.
Many of our visitors are disabled, a large proportion of these children, so we believe that the split
will help everyone.
Some visitors purchased tickets prior to this session split. All of these ticket holders were
automatically placed in session one of the day they hold the ticket for. Several emails were sent to
all ticket holders explaining this and offering the chance to change to session two. If you did not
reply to this email your ticket is for session one. Contact your ticket provider if you want to change
your session.
We understand that some of you will be there early so we advise that you bring warm, waterproof
clothing and umbrellas. Most queuing is inside, any outside queuing we will provide canopies. Most
conventions have people queue outdoors and many people do not prepare for this.
Session 1 – is 7am to 3pm. Doors will be opened to you at 7am. At 2.30pm and 2.45pm an
announcement will be made reminding you that your session ends in 30 minutes. At 3pm we will ask
you to leave by the exits at the back of the building and NOT by the way you came in. Session 2
visitors will be queuing at the entrance. By 3.15 pm everyone must have vacated the building.
Session 2 - is 3.30pm to 11pm. Doors will be opened for you at 3.30pm. At 10.30pm and 10.45pm
an announcement will be made reminding you that your session ends in 30 minutes. At 11pm we
will ask you to leave by the exits.
2.2 VIP Ticket Holders
VIP ticket holders are to come to the VIP entrance which is marked on the attached floor plan map.
When you arrive you will be given a lanyard and a VIP pass (see below). You will also be given your
goodie bag. Your VIP ticket gets you the following, and below is a list of how it all works.
Your ticket is only valid for the day you purchased. VIP tickets do not get you admission to the
afterparty, this is a separate event.
Please bear in mind there are a lot of VIPs so your queue jump will allow you to jump the normal
queues. There will still be a chance you may queue but only with other VIP’s. You will get priority
access over none VIP ticket holders. There is a VIP liaison team on site to assist you.
Children 3 and under will not receive a goodie bag or VIP passes as they get in free and have not paid
for a ticket.
VIP does not get you into each session. You have purchased a VIP ticket for one session
FLF official wristband – This will be put on you on arrival. You must keep this wristband on for the
whole duration of your visit
FLF Lanyard with programme – Given to you on arrival. Your lanyard has your VIP pass attached. The
Pass has several icons at the bottom. Each icon stands for something. EG – Meal Icon…. When you
have claimed your free meal the pass will be punched with a hole, removing that icon. This will show
us that you have received your meal. Please do not lose this, we cannot give you another. For
security purposes we have not printed the full front of the VIP pass.
Access to VIP area – The VIP area will be shown to you on arrival. This area is ONLY for VIP’s and the
Star Wars actors. This will also be the area where your free meal is given to you. This area is for VIPs
only and will include your catering.
WEEKEND TICKET HOLDERS
Weekend ticket holders will be given a wristband that will identify you as a weekend ticket holder.
You must keep this to get in each day. Note… your weekend ticket is only for one session per-day. EG
weekend ticket session one is session one on all 3 days. Weekend session two is for session two on
all 3 days.
Queue jump on entry and autograph signing – Please note you will jump the non VIP queue. If other
VIPs are waiting you will join a VIP queue. But you have priority over non VIPs. This is common at
conventions. We advise that should you see a large VIP queue at one of the actor’s tables that you
either wait or come back. These queues tend to be sporadic and at times many actors’ tables will not
have big queues. Queue jump applies at actors signings, attractions and photo ops. NOT stalls or
toilets.
Complimentary Meal/Drink - This will be in the VIP area. One free meal and drink per pass holder
only. Once you have had your meal your pass will be stamped.
FLF official poster – This will be given to you on arrival along with your pass and goodie bag
Goody bag – This will be given to you on arrival.
Personalised photo shoot with a Star Wars actor – For two hours each session an actor from Star
Wars will be available to have their photograph taken with you. The time slots are below.
Session 1 – 12pm to 2pm
Session 2 – 4pm to 6pm
The photo op sessions are two hours and we will switch the actor after one hour. You will not be
able to choose the actor as we have pre-arrange the actors. You must attend the VIP photo shoot
during the allotted time slots. If you do not you will miss out on this and we cannot arrange for it to
happen again.
When you arrive at the VIP photo area (displayed on the map) you will need to wait your turn. You
will be called in for your photo in the order you arrive, first come first serve.
You may go in with your VIP friends or alone, this is up to you, but you only get one photo op each.
We ask that you have your photo taken and move on quickly as this means other VIPs can get
through quickly.
Your photo will be taken and you will be able to download this digitally a few days after the event.
You photograph will be uploaded to our Facebook page under the VIP photo op folder. You can
download a high resolution image of your photograph.
X-wing, Cantina, and Millennium Falcon photo opportunities – Again, as a VIP you get priority
access to these attractions. Non VIP ticket holders will have to pay £5 for these photo ops but you
will get them included with your VIP pass. You can either take the photographs on your own camera/
phone or our photographer will take a photo and again, upload to Facebook for you to download. To
climb the upper regions of Ewok village are free to VIP ticket holders, and £5 to none VIP ticket
holders.

WHICH WILL BE SKIDDLE OR TICKET ARENA.
YOUR TICKET ANLY ALLOWS YOU ENTRANCE ON THE DAY AND SESSION YOU PURCHASED FOR
3 GENERAL INFORMATION
3.1 Accessibility
We have had many emails and calls from ticket holders asking about disabled accessibility so we
wanted to include a section on this with information on this.
Many people have notified us that they will be bringing autistic children and these children have
difficulties with large crowds and noises. We will provide anyone that asks with earplugs. While we
realise this may not be perfect it may benefit a few people.
We have been asked about a ‘quiet area’ that carers / parents can take their children. We have
allocated an area for this but due to the high volumes of people we cannot guarantee it being
unpopulated and completely away from the noise. We have exits all around the building which will
be staffed. If you need to go to a quiet area we suggest you exit through one of these doors, this will
lead outside where it is quiet. Around the edge of the arenas is expected to be quiet too.
Wheelchair users. We have done our best to ensure that wheelchair users and people with mobility
issues get to experience the whole event, but in some cases this has not been possible due to the
layout of the building.
The cantina bar is located upstairs and there is not disabled access to this area. As the cantina bar is
a permanent functioning bar and not a prop there is no way we can relocate this. Therefore, it is not
accessible by wheelchair/ pushchair or pram. We have posted this information several times on
social media and on our website.
The Ewok village is on a raised platform which is not accessible other than by foot. For health and
safety reasons only those that are able to walk unaided are permitted on the ewok village. Please
note that the ewok village can be seen from the ground level and wheelchair users can go under the
ewok village which will also be decorated.
If you need a wheelchair we strongly suggest you bring your own as we do not have any on site.
The ground floor is also wheel chair friendly. Signs are posted around to help you navigate.
3.2 Security
Security will be placed throughout the venue for 24 hours a day during the convention. This is for
safety of guests and staff.
On entrance to the convention venue anyone with a bag will be asked to open it so security can look
inside. They will not rummage through your bag or touch it, they will look in and if need be asked
you to empty it.
In some cases, random searches will take place, we may ask you to show under your coat and empty
pockets. If this happens please do not be offended, we take the safety and security of our visitors
very seriously and want the best, safest atmosphere possible. Should you witness any inappropriate
behaviour, please notify our security/ staff immediately.
CCTV is in operation and all visitors will be on camera.
If you are bringing a replica Star Wars lightsabre it WILL be thoroughly checked. We advise you do
not bring anything that looks real. If we are uncertain or concerned you will not be allowed to bring
the replica on site. Replica and plastic guns are not allowed. Sorry, but we take security seriously.
We have spoken to the relevant authorities and been advised on several security matters. We
reserve the right to refuse admission.
3.3 Staff
We have a dedicated team that will be placed around the venue to answer your questions and help
wherever possible. The staff will be briefed prior to the event and are there to help and support you.
Should you have any questions or need information please do not hesitate to ask a member of our
team.
3.4 Guest Actor Information
We have 24 actors / guests from the Star Wars movie franchise lined up for this convention and all
will be there to sign autographs and meet the fans. While most actors are there for the whole
weekend a couple are only there for 2 days*.
There will be a charge made per autograph. This is set by the star guest and the FLF team have no
say in this. The autograph can be on either your own item or on a photograph provided by the guest.
Actors will not be there for the entire session as the days are very long. We expect the actors to be
available at the following times. These are just guides.
SESSION 1 - 10am to 3pm
SESSION 2 – 3.30pm to 8.30pm
Actors reserve the right to leave when they choose. Actors do take breaks from signing. They usually
place a sign on their table stating when they will be back.
*Please check the website for details. Please be aware that while actors do their best to attend, in some
cases they have to drop out of conventions due to other commitments. In the unlikely event that this does
happen FLF management are not responsible
3.5 TOKENS
Tokens will be for sale at our sales desks. If you need to pay for photo opportunities, you will need to
buy a token. Most photo ops cost £5 so require 1 token. The Bib Fortuna photo op (Friday Only) will
cost £40 and require 8 tokens. Tokens can be purchased from our info areas. We will stop selling
tokens 30 mins before the end of each session. If you have unused tokens we will refund them but
they MUST be refunded before the end of the session. Once you have left the event we cannot offer
refunds.
Cash machines are not on site but cashback can be offered at the areas on the map at a cost of £1
per transaction.
Please note that the £1 cashback is cheaper than portable cash machines.
3.6 Prop / Set/ Exhibition Information and Photo info
Below are a list of the attractions and details. Please read carefully as there are some slight changes
to some attractions. The Cantina and upper Ewok village is not accessible with push chairs,
wheelchairs or similar.
All attractions and props can be seen by everyone not just VIP ticket holders.*
Please note that due to high demand we cannot guarantee access to all attractions. For the ease of other
visitors, we ask that you limit the time spent on some attractions as this will allow others that are waiting
the chance to experience everything. *The cantina bar is not accessible via wheelchair/ pushchair.
TAKE NOTE – ALL photographs will be digital and uploaded to Facebook for you to download. We are not
offering printed copies due to the time it would take to print them (plus most people prefer digital these
days). Once your photo is taken you will have the chance to view it on the camera. When you are happy you
leave that area and move on to enjoy the rest of the day. You can also take photographs on your own
phones/ cameras.
Within 5 days all images will be uploaded onto our Facebook HIGH RES for you to download. To find your
picture look for the corresponding photo album EG – You have an X-wing photo on Saturday Session 2. You
look for the album “X-Wing Session 2 photos”… you look through all the pictures, find yours and download.
VIPS will look for “ VIP X-Wing Session 2 photos”. We will try and upload the photos the same day, but do
give us a few days as it’s a big job.
All photos will be backed up twice. If you can’t find your photo, please look again. We will be uploading
them all and there is a lot to look though.
BIB FORTUNA IN FULL MOVIE MAKE UP
On Friday you will have the once in a lifetime opportunity to meet Alan Ruscoe, the actor who
played Bib Fortuna in the Phantom Menace, in full make up which will be applied by Shaune
Harrison, who applied the make up in Episode one and two.
This has never been done before, and is unlikely to ever be done again. This added attraction will
feature on Friday only. But don’t worry, Alan will be there all weekend to sign autographs and meet
you.
Please note this experience was added recently and due to the time and fact the makeup is uncomfortable,
we are only able to do this make up on the Friday sessions. Alan will have the makeup applied approx. 9.3010am on Friday morning. The makeup will take around 3 hours to apply. At around 1pm, Alan (now Bib
Fortuna) will be available for photo sessions in the photograph area. Photographs with Alan / Bib Fortuna
will cost £40 (8 tokens). Tokens for this makeup can be purchased at one of our retail stands. This
opportunity will be in high demand and expected to sell quickly. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
AT-ST
A full size SCOUT WALKER towering nearly 7 metres in height will be a centrepiece attraction, in our
ENDOR BATTLE scene. As you enter the main arena through the bunker door, you will be confronted
by the giant armoured vehicle with its cannons pointing straight at you. Superb photo opportunity
not to be missed.
Attention to detail is paramount, the walker is being made with highly detailed reference photos of
the original ILM model from Return of the Jedi. Every detail will be exact from the structure to the
painting.
Please note. This is a free standing structure that will be securely fastened and harnessed. We ask
that you do not touch the Scout Walker. The Scout Walker will be visible from all areas of the main
arena and will make a great photo op.
X-WING
A full size replica X-WING is also being constructed. We will be assembling the most famous of all the
X-wings, Luke Skywalker’s RED 5. At 39 ft. long and towering over 8ft off the ground, this will be truly
magnificent and one of a kind.
Again we are working from highly detailed ILM reference photos of the original models used in the
film, and blueprints.
VIP ticket holders will get the chance to climb up the ladder of the x wing, for the photo opportunity
of a lifetime.
Please note – we originally planned and advertised that you could climb into the cockpit but due to health
and safety we have been advised that this is not possible. We can allow people to climb up to the cockpit
which will actually make a better photograph opportunity as you can get the X-wing in the back ground (this
would not be possible if sat inside the cockpit). We have done this for your safety.
CANTINA
The MOS EISLEY CANTINA is a dimly-lit tavern known for its strong drinks, crazy music, and often
outbreaks of violence. Most pilots visiting Tatooine spend their downtime in the cantina, making it
an ideal spot to hire a star ship’s crew.
We have recreated this famous cantina in all its glory, with all the cantina creatures and band. We
will be serving blue milk cocktails and alcohol on the day with live music. Photo opportunity of a
lifetime with a dead Greedo in a booth, as you take up Han Solo’s seat and blaster.
Please note - The cantina is open to everyone, however numbers allowed in the cantina at one time will be
limited for health and safety reasons. Once capacity is reached we will work on a 1 in 1 out system. VIP
ticket holders will get priority entrance. You MUST be 18 to drink alcohol in the cantina. ID may be required.
VIP ticket holders get a free photo op with Greedo. Non VIP ticket holders will need to pay £5. Photo op
vouchers can be purchased at a FLF Retail stand
As mentioned previously, the Cantina is a functioning bar on the first floor and not accessible by wheel chair
or push chair. We apologise for any inconvenience. We have had this information posted on social media
and the website on several occasions in the past.
JABBAS PALACE
JABBA THE HUTT was one of the galaxy’s most powerful gangsters, with far-reaching influence in
both politics and the criminal underworld. JABBA’S PALACE is one of our star attractions. We are
custom making a full size replica that has moving features, and an anamatronic SALACIOUS CRUMB.
This will be one of a kind in the world, some of the people building this are the same people who
worked on the original puppet in the movie. You will also get the chance for a photo opportunity
where they can be tied to Jabba throne on a chain.
Please note - The cost of this photo op is £5. Photo op tokens can be purchased at the FLF info stands
EWOK VILLAGE
Our EWOK VILLAGE will be the biggest village of its kind built in the UK, to scale and to size, elevated
12ft in the air.
Please note - VIP tickets can gain access to the upper tiers. Standard ticket holders can pay £5 for a token to
enter on the day. Priority is given to VIP ticket holders.
DAGOBAH SYSTEM
The DAGOBAH SYSTEM was a star system that contained the swamp-covered planet of Dagobah. In
his final years, the former Grand Master of the Jedi Order Yoda called the Dagobah system his home.
Visit master Yoda in his natural surroundings, but beware of snakes and other alien swamp
creatures!
Please note - The Dagobah system is a replica set. It is accessible to everyone. It’s a small area so you will
need to queue.
MILLENIUM FALCON
Jump into HYPERSPACE for an amazing photo opportunity. Seat yourself in the Millennium Falcon
cockpit, hit the button and away you go at the speed of light, captured on camera!
Please note - This photo op is free to VIP ticket holders. The cost of this photo op for non VIPs is £5. Photo
op vouchers can be purchased at the FLF retail stands
PICCADILLY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
The PICCADILLY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA (www.piccadillysymphony.co.uk) have been hired in for all
3 days and sessions, to play iconic music from the films. To hear the Star Wars theme tune played by
one of the UK’s finest orchestra is something not to be missed.
The sessions will be approx. 30 minutes long and will be played in the main arena near the x-wing. Please
note, if you are unable to get to the main arena you will be able to hear the orchestra throughout the whole
ground floor of the building. Times will be the same all 3 days
SESSION 1 – 2pm
SESSION 2 – 4.30pm
JEDI TRAINING SCHOOL
A JEDI TRAINING SCHOOL will be held by Andrew Lawden, who trained as a Jedi for Star Wars –
Episode 1 – as a stunt double for Liam Neeson. Here he will teach the younglings how to use a
lightsabre like a Jedi. Your child will leave the training with the powers of the force, and will receive a
certificate authenticating his knowledge and new found powers.
Please note. Due to the very small number of people Andrew can train per session places will be extremely
limited. Children must be aged 4 and above to be part of this. Andrew is a trained professional. You must
ensure that all of his instructions are followed.
If you want to be part of this academy you must go to the Jedi Fight Academy desk 15 minutes prior to it
starting and put your name down on a sheet. 5 minutes before it starts 15 random children will be picked to
attend. These will be randomly picked and no preference will be given to anyone. If your child’s name is
called and you do not come forward ASAP, a new name will be picked. Each participant will be given a
certificate at the end of the session. Sessions are approx. 30 minutes long. This academy is run by Andrew
Lawden. FLF organisers have no say in how sessions are done/ held. Parents must stay with their children
during the academy.
SESSION 1 – 11.30am & 1.30pm
SESSION 2 – 4.30pm & 7pm
Ties may be subject to change and is up to Andrew Lawdens discretion. Andrew may cancel sessions and
withholds the right to change / alter academy times / session.

accepts no responsibility for purchases made with traders.
GARRISONS
GARRISONS from the Sentinal Squad UK, 501st, and 99th garrison, will be trooping the event for
their nominated charities. Another great photo opportunity with a Stormtrooper or your favourite
Star Wars character.

of each session.

3.7 Amenities / Other info
Our rights
We reserve the right to refuse entry to those we feel are disruptive or pose a threat. We take the
safety of our guests seriously and will not tolerate bad or abusive behaviour. This is a family event
and we ask you respect us and other guests. We are Star Wars fans that put this convention together
for other Star Wars fans. The two main organisers have dedicated a year of their lives to this event
and have done their best to deliver what we think goes above and beyond the normal expectations
of a regular convention.
So we ask that you take your time and appreciate that every other guest is also a fan and they are
here to have a fun time.
Although this is unlikely we reserve the right to make alterations, changes and cancellations to the line-up
and attractions. This is purely due to things that could possibly change and are out of our control. This
disclaimer has been on our website from the beginning. So far the only change has been climbing inside the
cockpit of the x-wing and the only reason this change was made was for your health and safety.
Fire
In the event of a fire please use the nearest fire exit and get as far away from the building as
possible. Fire exits are marked on the attached map.
First Aid
If you or anyone requires first Aid please find a member of staff. An ambulance will be on site
Health & Safety
We have had risk assessments done on all our attractions. If you are asked not to climb on or touch
things, please do not. These rules are in place to protect you and others. We understand you may be
frustrated about not being able to sit in the x-wing cockpit, but this is for your safety. Complaining
will not change the situation. We do not want people injured at this event.
Weapon policy
We do not allow visitors to bring in replica blasters or guns. While we understand some people
frustration we take our visitors safety serious and will not allow replica weapons like this to be
brought in by you. If you bring one you will not be allowed to bring it inside. Plastic lightsabres are
allowed but will be checked.
Cash points
Cash points are not available on site but Bowlers will be offering cashback facilities at the main bar
shown on the floor plan. Cashback is £1.
Costumers
We have several costume groups at the event. If you are coming in costume please be aware that we
cannot provide a dedicated area to change in, we simply do not have the space. We can also not
store anything for customers due to security.
Food
The venue has its own Peri Peri chicken café (shown on map) in addition external food traders will be
located in the food court (shown on map). You cannot bring your own drinks into the venue. We
realise some of you have special dietary requirements so we will allow you to bring food in.
Toilets
We have numerous toilets located around the venue. Please see map for details or ask a member of
staff if you need assistance. The Disabled toilets are located near the VIP entrance. Additional
temporary toilets will be located in the car park area

Our Facebook is there for us to keep our fans informed and excited. Should anyone paste abusive
comments or language those comments will be removed. This is a page that is read by people of all
ages and we do not want people to be subject to foul language. If you have a concern, please
message us or email us via the website.
Please note that if you post a comment on the page wall it may be missed by us. We have hundreds
of people comment a day, hundreds of emails to answer and a convention to arrange. If you need to
reach us on Facebook we suggest you message us as we can identify messages easier than posts.
Cleaning
We have a dedicated cleaning team working at the event, but if you see any problems please let us
know and we will look into it.
Cloakroom
We do not provide cloakroom facilities for security reasons.

Re-entry is not permitted. In extreme circumstances this may be allowed. Please see a member of
staff for details.

assistance, please speak to a member of staff
Lost and found
Please hand in any found items to the information areas. If you lose something visit one of the
information areas and they will contact other info areas to ask if it’s been handed in. Please be kind,
if you find something remember that someone has lost this and we like nice people that hand stuff
in, much nicer than a sad child.
Lost people
We suggest that you find an area in the venue to meet up in if you get lost. If you chose a place
yourself, you can tell your friends / family to meet you there. Any lost / found children will be taken
to our control area. If the child has been with us for a length of time we will make announcements
over the PA to find the parents. It is a busy convention so please do keep an eye on your younglings.

Please note. VIPs have paid for priority access for certain areas and photo ops and will be given
priority. But, VIPs may have to queue in a VIP queue, but will be given priority access to the areas we
specified.
