Born, Lecturer in Public Policy, is a retired U.S.
Air Force
Brigadier General with 30 years of military service.
Prior to coming to
Harvard, she served two terms as the President ‐ appointed Dead of
Faculty for the U.S.
Air Force Academy, where she also served as
Assistant Director for Recruiting Research and Analysis in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air
Force and as the Deputy Chief of the Personnel Issues Team in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for
Personnel.
Dr.
Born commanded the 11 th Mission Support Squadron at Bolling Air Force Base, was an
Exchange Officer with the Royal Australian Air Force, and served in Afghanistan during Operation
Enduring Freedom.
Dr.
Born graduated with distinction from the U.S.
Air Force Academy in 1983.
She also completed Master’s Degree programs at Trinity University and the University of Melbourne as well
as a Doctorate from Penn State University.
