OAKBROOK TERRACE
While residents once called it Utopia, the early economy of Oakbrook
Terrace was rooted in agriculture until suburban growth after World War
II. Soon, commercial centers developed along Roosevelt Road and 22nd
Street, the two major east-west arteries. This led to the city’s population
increasing in the 1970s and the development of new commercial areas.
During the 1980s, DuPage County’s tallest office building, Oakbrook
Terrace Tower was completed. Drury Lane, Redbox, the Chicago Automobile
Trade Association and ComEd now all call Oakbrook Terrace their home.
Today . . . Oakbrook Terrace provides the best
setting anywhere to WORK, LIVE and PLAY.
What’s more, Oakbrook Terrace offers a number of relocation and
expansion initiatives, helping make such a relocation an even wiser
decision. We look forward to meeting you as soon as possible to discuss
these initiatives, and learn more about your company’s
relocation interests and requirements.
“Oakbrook Terrace maintains one of the Chicago area’s
lowest overall tax rates, and is centrally located
to help you leverage every geographic advantage.
Oakbrook Terrace’s proximity to major expressways and
airports facilitates employee recruitment from multiple
suburban markets.
Tony Ragucci
Mayor
Moreover, our city understands that relocating and
expanding companies face challenges, so we offer a
range of potential financial incentives to help reduce
operational costs over the term of a new lease.”

The Greater
Oak Brook Economic
Development Partnership
The Greater Oak Brook Economic
Development Partnership recognizes
that businesses and government must
work together to sustain and grow a
robust local economy. As such, the City
of Oakbrook Terrace and the Greater
Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce each
play important roles in strengthening
commerce in Oakbrook Terrace.
The City of Oakbrook Terrace has
created a positive, business-friendly
environment in which companies can
thrive. It has established planning and
zoning ordinances that help businesses
as they develop properties or move into
office or retail locations.
The Greater Oak Brook Chamber of
Commerce has helped build a synergy
between businesses in Oakbrook Terrace
that allows them to work together
toward common economic goals. These
corporations work side by side to provide
the resources, expertise and other
support needed to attract businesses
to Oakbrook Terrace — and make this a
place where companies want to stay.
How the Partnership Works
Since 2006, the Partnership has worked with hundreds of existing and
relocating companies to build bridges between each company’s operational
and financial goals and our community’s infrastructure and economic support.
The companies with which we work range from large corporations, hotels and
retail stores to small and mid-sized businesses – and a variety of companies in
between.
Partnership staff work with site selectors and their clients to inform
them about the community’s business advantages, services, incentives
and amenities — and to introduce them and their clients to key municipal
and business leaders. Based on the corporate client’s interests and needs,
Partnership staff may also arrange for the client to meet with Village of
Oakbrook Terrace staff to discuss planning or zoning requirements.
In addition, Partnership staff may arrange for site selectors and clients to meet
with Oakbrook Terrace’s Rapid Response Team, which is comprised of the City
Manager, Aldermen and staff, fire chief, police chief, Oakbrook Terrace Park
District staff, PACE Suburban Bus representatives, the head of the Oakbrook
Terrace hotel committee, the heads of the Oakbrook Terrace hospitality and
retail council, and Oakbrook Terrace’s corporate leaders. During these meetings,
Rapid Response Team members offer testimonials about Oakbrook Terrace’s many
business benefits. The team also learns about and works to address and support
the company’s critical needs and preferences for relocation or expansion.
The Partnership provides customized assistance to meet each company’s
specific needs and core values, and to provide practical, but innovative
strategies to achieve the company’s long-term residency here. Knowledgeable
and experienced staff and volunteers bring with them the expertise and
insights gained from their own experience as corporate leaders, business
owners and managers.
