Course Outline Powered Industrial Truck (PIT)/ Forklift Operator Training Prerequisites: Schedule: None One Half-Day Session Course Objectives This course is designed to provide the basic classroom portion for the operation of powered industrial trucks (forklifts, motorized pallet jacks, order pickers, narrow isle reach trucks, and sit-down counterbalanced forklifts). Attendees will acquire the knowledge to safely operator powered industrial trucks and prevent accidents. Powered industrial truck operator training is required by the United States Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (USDOL OSHA) and administered in North Carolina by the Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration as a state approved plan. Title 29, Code of Federal Regulations 1910.178, covers the regulation. Note: This course provides the classroom portion only. Individuals must also complete an on-site driving test to complete their certification. This is available for an additional fee. Contact TEA for more information.
