Biome Diorama & Poster Objective & Dioram a Guidelines: With your group you will create a dioram a of the biome your group is assigned. Your diorama should include the following: abiotic factors (sun, precipitation, soil, sand, rocks, etc.), and biotic factors: representations of the dominant vegetation and any animal life. Be sure to think “outside the box!” You may use any type of box to create your biome (ex: a shoe box). You can use any materials to create your biome, except food products that will spoil. Poster Guidelines & Presentation: Your group will also create a presentation poster about your biome. Each of these sections Your poster should include: should be clearly labeled -biome location/geographic distribution (be specific) on your poster! -abiotic factors: climate (temp.), precipitation, soil type, fires, etc. -biotic factors: vegetation and animals (give at least 5 ex’s of each) -3 plant adaptations that plants would have in your biome (explain) -3 animal adaptations that animals would have in your biome (explain) -endangered species: at least 1 plant and 1 animal -5 unique features/facts that the group feels needs to be included (explain) Your poster should include key points only (do not copy and paste large amounts information-no plagiarism)! Use your book to research your biome- Chapter 4 Section 3! Make the class want to read your poster! Include graphics and color! Your group will give a brief presentation (1-3 minutes) of your biome diorama and poster to the class. Grading: This Biome Project will count as tw o daily grades. The breakdown will be as follows: First Daily Grade: Biom e Dioram a 0 2 4 6 8 10 Total: 10 points Biom e Poster 0 2 4 6 8 10 Total: 10 points Effort/Ingenuity 0 1 2 3 4 5 Total: 5 points Total points: 25 Second Daily Grade: Presentation 0 1 2 3 4 5 Total: 5 points Group Evaluation 0 2 4 6 8 10 Total: 10 points Total points: 15 (Partial credit may be given! Ex: A 9 may be given instead of an 8 or 10.) You can choose as a group who is in charge of finding information, getting a box, buying supplies, etc. As long as your group agrees on each person’s role/job in the group, it does not matter who does what- you do NOT need approval from your teacher. However, your teacher will be checking with each group to ensure that your plan is set! You will probably need to have more than one person in the group get supplies and more than one person to gather information! Do NOT put the burden on one group member! W ho is in charge of w hat?: List the name(s) of each group member. Some lines may have more than one name!
