The first steps you need to take to begin your educational experience are to:

Attend the Teacher Education Program Orientation Webinar or view the archive session as soon as possible
2.
Begin the process of obtaining your required Clearances .
3.
Confirm your acceptance on the discover Drexel website.
4.
Apply for Financial Aid and/or Payment Plan options. Fill out FAFSA, submit
Institutional Financial Aid Form and Contact Drexel Central regarding
Financial Aid at www.drexel.edu/drexelcentral
5.
Pick up your Drexel computer accounts (24-48 hours after confirming acceptance)
6.
Establish access to Drexel e-mail on the Drexel One Portal (student accounts)
7.
Work with your academic advisor to register for your initial courses.
8.
Schedule phone, skype, or in-person appointment and to revise your Plan of
Study if need be based on the number of UG Content Courses you need to complete.
9.
Purchase course materials (textbooks)
10.
Participate in the online Blackboard Learn Orientation course (mandatory)

Begin classes

All new graduate students in the Teacher Certification Programs are required to attend the online Graduate Teacher Education Program
Orientation webinar or view an archive session for the term you will begin the program. If you haven’t already done so, please contact the Program

Bookmark the Teacher Ed Resource Portal and go to this website each week to stay abreast of any announcements and procedure updates
This portal will be accessed by going to http://mobile.goodwin.drexel.edu/si/

If you will be entering PreK-12 schools in PA, obtain FBI , PA Criminal
History , PA Child Abuse, and Skin TB test (if required by your local School
District) .
Since the process of obtaining clearances can be a lengthy one, please start the process now, by going to the Teacher Ed Resource Portal’s “Field Experience” page or the following website at http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt/community/background_checks/

If living out of state or overseas, you must obtain an FBI clearance as well as other clearances required in your state or local school district. Contact your local school district or state to determine what clearances you will need to obtain as well as the process.

Keep the original clearances for your records and to take with you to enter a
PreK-12 school

Submit the copies to Drexel School of Education’s Field Placement Office and to your Graduate Advisor. See the FPO’s Contact information at http://mobile.goodwin.drexel.edu/si/field-experiencestudent-teaching/

If your clearances are over a year old, must be updated and submitted to Drexel.
Submit the Graduate Admissions Enrollment Form and tuition deposit online at https://discover.drexel.edu/secure/login .
Your Student ID and DD PIN will be required to log in to this site. Those numbers will be provided in your official acceptance letter sent to you by Graduate Admissions.

1. Go online using your Web browser.
2. Go to http://www.drexel.edu/computeraccounts .
3. Click on "Pick up your First Accounts".
4. Follow the instructions and fill out the form. Click OK.
5. Read the acceptable use policy. Click YES.
6. Print out and retain for future reference the Web page with the heading
“Computer Account Management Service – Account Setup Wizard – Step 4:
Account Creation and Delivery to Client”.
For now, the most important account information is your account name and password.
The account name is usually three letters followed by two numbers. You will use this account name to login to your courses in the Blackboard system and to access your
Drexel e-mail.
Note: There may be a delay of 10 minutes (or more during periods of peak usage) between picking up your Drexel computer accounts and all of Drexel
‟s systems recognizing your account information. So if your login doesn
‟t work right away, try again in a few minutes.
1. If not already online, go online using your Web browser
2. Go to http://one.drexel.edu (this site is known as the Drexel One portal)
3. Login using your account name and password.
4. Click on the e-mail icon at the top of the page.
5. You should be able to send and receive Drexel e-mail from this site. To test your connection, send a test e-mail to helpnet2@drexel.edu. You should receive an automatic response within a few minutes.
IMPORTANT: Once you pick up your computer accounts, all e-mail correspondence with you will be directed to your DREXEL e-mail address, not any other e-mail address.
Note: There are alternate ways to access your e-mail if you prefer not to use the Drexel
One portal (such as adding your Drexel e-mail account to a mail client such as Microsoft
Outlook or Outlook Express or having your Drexel e-mail automatically forwarded to another e-mail address). For more information see www.drexel.com/help/ .
Your academic advisor is here to help you meet your educational goals and keep you on track toward earning your degree or certificate. The week before you begin your classes you will be able to log into Blackboard Learn using your userid and password to participate in our mandatory online student Blackboard
Orientation course. The orientation course is designed to familiarize you with Blackboard and make you aware of the university services that are available to you. The orientation course will take you a total of 2 hours to complete, but you may complete the course at multiple sittings as your schedule allows. The Blackboard Learn orientation course will explain how to access your courses in
Blackboard. You will not be able to access your courses until the first day of the term.
Within the Blackboard course framework your instructor will provide you with any course-specific ground rules for participation in his or her course.
Please note: Save all information on your course shell to your PC if you want to keep it.
Once the term is over, you will not have access to your course/s information anymore.
You will need to refer back to your course material to help study for your certification exams.
