To: LSU and Southern University AgCenter Faculty Re: Membership in LCAAA Dear Faculty Member, The Louisiana County Agricultural Agents Association (LCAAA) is currently holding its annual membership drive and would like to invite you to either renew your membership or consider becoming a new member. LCAAA membership is open to all LSU and Southern University AgCenter agents, extension associates, specialist and administrators with extension appointments working in the areas of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries. The LCAAA is an active unit of the National Association of County Agricultural Agents (NACAA) with members active in national meetings as well as serving in leadership positions at the national level. The objectives of the LCAAA are to encourage a high standard of professional performance; to promote a high degree of cooperation and loyalty; to improve the effectiveness of Cooperative Extension work, and to carry out the policies and programs of the Land-Grant Colleges in the United States. One of the biggest advantages of membership is the unique opportunity afforded by LCAAA for field and state faculty to build those relationships that are so important in developing the cooperation and collaboration needed to fulfill the AgCenters’ mission. In addition to the ability to build productive relationships, the LCAAA offers and supports it members through a host of professional improvement and scholarship opportunities. Among these are: State and National Meetings (peer reviewed paper and poster sessions) NACAA Journal (peer reviewed online journal) Journal of Extension Search for Excellence Awards (for programming efforts in various Communication Awards (for newsletters, presentations, factsheets, etc) Educational Foundation Scholarships State level scholarships We believe the LCAAA offers a variety of valuable experiences for its members. Whether it be professional improvement, scholarships for further professional development, or building relationships with fellow LSU and Southern University AgCenter faculty, the LCAAA has much to offer. If you have any questions regarding membership or what the LCAAA may offer to you personally, feel free to contact LCAAA officers or board members in your area. We certainly hope that you consider becoming a member. For the LCAAA to meet deadlines imposed by the national association, we ask that you complete and return the enclosed membership application along with your dues by Friday, January 10, 2014. Dues are $60 per year which provides you membership into both LCAAA and NACAA. As a reminder, these dues can be claimed on your expense accounts. Once you have paid your dues, the LCAAA treasurer will provide you a receipt that can be used to claim this expense. Thank you for your consideration. We look forward to having you as member!
