Southwestern Community College to ECE-Unified at Iowa State University 2015-2016 Articulation Plan Please take the following classes before transferring to Iowa State University, ECE-Unified major: 1. Communications ENG 105 ENG 106 SPC 112 or 122 2. Humanities Humanities-need 9 credits-make sure they transfer to ISU using TRANSIT or checking in the ISU index in Transfer Equivalency Guide and the ECE Approved Options list: http://www.hdfs.hs.iastate.edu/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Early-Childhood-Educationapproved-options-2014-15-PDF.pdf. If you take MUS 100, or REL 101 or HIS 110 one will also count towards the ISU International Perspectives requirement. 3. Mathematics & Natural Science Need one Biology (BIO 105 or BIO 162), one Physical Science (Chemistry or Physics) and Math (ISU-ECE-Unified needs Math 117) Please review our ECE Approved Options list for your Sciences choices: http://www.hdfs.hs.iastate.edu/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Early-Childhood-Educationapproved-options-2014-15-PDF.pdf use TRANSIT to make sure you are taking the correct classtypically classes with a 1T** or 2T** transferring to ISU will not meet requirements at ISU. 4. Social Sciences Need POL 111. You also need two other Social Sciences- choose PSY 121 and PSY 111. 5. Distributed Requirements— only required for SWCC 6. ElectivesECE 242,221, 170 and 262 will transfer in as HD FS 224 if all are completed before entering ISU- if not all ECE courses will transfer in as Electives (only need 1-2 credits of Electives in ECE-Unified). 7. Physical Education-not required at ISU ISU Early Childhood Education-Unified Program The following classes can also be taken at SWCC to transfer and meet ECE-Unified requirements: LIT 105, EDU 213, PEH 141, and ECE 287 The ECE-Unified program will require 2 years of the same Foreign Language from High School or one year of the same foreign language in college starting Fall 2016. While attending ISU ECE-Unified program must maintain a 2.50 to enter and stay in the Teacher Education Program Earn minimum Praxis 1 Core scores: Reading-156, Writing-162, and Math- 150—it is best if you can plan to take and pass these tests before entering ISU Students must meet minimum grade of ‘C’ in English 105 and 106 (ENGL 150 & 250), and in all professional Education courses in HD FS, C I and ECE (this is a requirement for all classes related to teacher education taken at ISU and SWCC). Students must obtain a minimum grade of ‘C-‘for the required ISU mathematics class MAT 117 (Math 195) and Math 196. Submit to Criminal Background Checks and have no serious charges in this check.
