Millions of children in the world, mostly teens at the age of 13-18 light up a cigarette,
tobacco, etc every single day. Adolescent boys and girls are very addicted to smoking. Why?
There is a very addicting chemical called Nicotine which makes it very highly addicting for a
teen to quit smoking. Some reasons why teenagers start to smoke at a very young age because
they may have problems, or they want to act like smokers that are bad on those Pg-13 movies.
Adolescents get easily sick because they aren’t able to handle the very strong chemicals that are
inside the cigarette, tobacco, etc. Smoking just doesn't affect the smokers, it affects other people
around the smoker because if you inhale the smoke you're able to have cancer.
Smokers that are adolescent, are able to get many illness that was form by the chemicals.
Smoking just doesn’t just give you cancer, but it really makes you stupid because smoking is
dumb and it’s not worth paying for. The worst thing about smoking is it may have been caused
by the people around them such as their friends, parents, etc. If you friends lead you to do
something bad, they aren’t your best friends. You have to know what type of people you hang
out with because when you choose the wrong choices it causes you to do wrong things such as
smoking.
What is Teen Smoking?
Teen smoking is a behavioral disorder that causes adolescent boys and girls who smoke
at a very young age. Many adolescent teens start at the age of 15-19, some other teens start at the
age of 13-19. In the U.S, at least 6 million teens light up a cigarette, cigar, tobacco, etc everyday.
When smoking at a young age it’s easy to get many diseases such as lung cancer. In addition
many teens who start to smoke at the age of 15 approximately 20,000 teens die before the age of
70. Teens that smoke at a very young age tends to smoke cigars, tobacco, pot, etc. Teen Smoking
Statistics, says “ Adolescent girls who smoke take oral birth control pills greatly increase of
having blood clots and strokes”. One of the highest states that has teen smoking that increase in
the year of 2012 is 6.88% .
Teens sometimes do second hand smoking. What is second hand smoking you say?
Second hand smoking is when you’re smoking and a infant inhales the smoke. Second smoking
is very rare in the U.S . Many adults smoke and teens are age intend to smoke as well. When
inhaling a second hand smoke it may cause very rare infection such as ear infection, allergies,
bronchitis, pneumonia, and asthma.
Effects and Symptoms of Teen Smoking
When teenagers smoke it becomes a very terrible impact to their health.Which causes
them to cough, vomit. Smoking at a very young age will increase production of phlegm, it causes
respiratory illness, retardation, etc. Such as other effects on smoking, it causes diseases as
cancer, heart attacks, or even strokes and chronic bronchitis.When you smoke your teeth and
fingertips turn yellow and it looks nasty, and you turn stink.When you smoke you aren’t able to
taste or smell things very well.
In many cigars, tobacco, etc it contains many chemicals such as nicotine, which is a very
addictive part of the drug that makes it very hard for you to quit smoking. What does nicotine do
to your body? Nicotine makes your heart beat faster to make you have lesser energy which
makes you not very active to work out.
Many cigarettes, tobacco, etc, contains many types of chemicals such as Tar, Acetone,
Benzene,etc that is very poisonous which makes teens to get easily sick and teens are able to die
at a very young age.
Teens my age that are into many active things that involves running, or working or
moving around a lot shouldn’t be smoking. The chemicals that are inside the drug destroys your
lungs which it makes it hard for you to breath.If you do things very active, don’t smoke.
Causes of Teen Smoking
Many people around the world began to smoke when they are teens. How come? Teens
say “ they are very interested to try one”, which totally makes them to start smoking. Teens also
say “ It’s really cool “, but seriously smoking at a very young age or actually smoking at all is
very stupid. Nowadays many tobacco companies make bigger and better ads to influence more
and more teens to start smoking. In the year of 2010 there are very unappropiate scenes that
show on movies like rated G, PG, PG-13 has many smoking scenes that influences teens to
smoke.
Many tobacco companies target teens to smoke. How do they target teens? Tobacco
companies target teens through the media. Teenagers my age are very into actress/singers such as
Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Lil’ wayne, etc. Sometimes teenagers who are very into
actress/singers who smoke try to imitate them so they can try to look cool the way they see their
favorite idol smoking. That’s one way that leads teenagers to start smoking. Tobacco companies
paid many producers money to give more smoking scenes with many popular actresses, so many
teens get influenced to start smoking, that is called “placement”. The people who entitled to
make the article of “ Why do early people start smoking?”, explains that “despite the fact that
cigarette brand product placement in movies was banned by the year of 1998 Tobacco Master
Settlement Agreement, cigarette appeared in two out of three box office hit in movies in the year
of 2005”.
Many adolescent boys smoke think their cool, sometimes they think smoking can win
girls because many girls that are teens are into bad boys. When you're still young and you smoke
you just seriously makes yourself look like a fool and even worse makes you look stupid. The
worst part about smoking to is that, adolescent girls intend to smoke because they also think
smoking will make you look like a bad gang girl and they also smoke because they want to lose
weight. A lot of teens really think smoking makes them look good, but it’s just wasting their
time. Adolescent teens seriously is just embarrassing themselves and smoking isn’t good when
you're trying to make someone fall in love with you because your gf/bf wouldn’t want to love
someone who does bad choices.
Prevention
What are some ways to prevent teen smoking? Teens should start joining many group
activities to help them quit smoking. From all my research it says “mostly smoking happens
because you hang with many bad friends who encourages you”. When friends encourage you to
smoke, that makes them not even your real friend because they're making you look bad in front
of everybody, friends should be helping each other out not tempting them to make bad choices.
Sometimes you should just join groups who are able to help you solve your problem besides
solving it yourself. When you have problems that causes you to start smoking the best thing to do
is talk to a trustful adult that is able to help you and encourage you to not smoke. Another way to
help prevent teen smoking is when, once you get a hold of a cigarette the first thing you ever do
is throw it away because once you start, your never able to control yourself or even make you
quit smoking. Just remember never hold a cigarette but if you do throw it away! Join groups that
involve things your very interested in. For boys, you should join basketball, baseball, etc. Girls
who smoke should join groups like singing, dancing, etc. Sometimes you can always talk to a
psychiatrist about your problems and maybe they have a lot of solutions that can help you solve
your problem that can encourage you to quit smoking. The news crew of HONcode shares with

programs”, which meant in the year of 1998 there were many programs to prevent teen smoking.
Treatment
Teens who smoke that wants to quit intends to write themselves goals for them to reach.
There isn’t many medicine that can help you quit smoking. Some medicine that can help you quit
is these gums that allow you to smoke for a week but once you chew the gum, you have to chew
the gum once a day. The only thing that can make you really stop is you. You have the control
of yourself. The first thing you do when you try to quit smoking is you mark a date on the
calendar when you agree to quit. Second you should throw away all your lighters, your cigarettes
(even your emergency ones.) and wash all of your smelly clothes from the cigarette stains. If you
have any ashtrays or other things that you used smoking with the best thing to do with it is get rid
of it as soon as you quit. If your aren’t able to keep your mouth occupied without a cigarette or
tobacco, etc, you should maybe put things in your mouth to keep your tongue occupied such as a
carrot stick, toothpick, lollipops, gum, etc. The third thing to do is to join clubs that helps you
prevent from smoking or even talk to a trustful adult about your problems and what made you
start smoking. If no one is there for you, you could always sign up online to the quit smoking
websites and maybe it will help you quit.
Teen smoking is basically adolescent teens who smoke at a very young age and also it
means you're putting more and more nasty and dangerous chemicals into your body. The
chemical called “Nicotine” is a very strong chemical because once nicotine hits your brain you
get addicted to smoking which gives you a very hard time to quit smoking. Smoking doesn’t just
give you lung cancer but it can always cause more disease that leads to death. Quitting smoking
is very hard, especially when you're too addicted but seriously it’s worth the risk.
Being a non-smoker gives you more opportunities in life. When your a non-smoker
you’re able to get many college degrees, high school diploma, getting a good job, and more and
more opportunities that are worth living for. Once you pick up a cigarette, throw it away. Once
you hang out with the bad people and you see them smoke, walk away. If you had real friends
they wouldn’t be tempting you to make you chose the bad choices. Just remember being a
smoker isn’t worth it. Stay classy, never nasty. Don’t smoke!
