c) Karnataka Udyoga Mitra:
A Government of Karnataka undertaking, set up for encouraging industrial
development in the State.

industrial investment in Karnataka.

Disseminate information through the mass media by advertisement and to
create and accelerate the industrial tempo.

Identifies and encourages prospective investors / entrepreneurs and
motivate them to establish industrial units in Karnataka.

Locates and contacts prospective investors / entrepreneurs residing within
and outside Karnataka, as well as those living abroad, and motivate them
in setting up industrial units in Karnataka by organising special campaigns,
seminars etc.

d) Karnataka Council for Technological Upgradation:
KCTU is a joint venture of Central, State Governments and Industry
Associations.

It has been set up to fulfil the long felt needs of technological inputs to the
SMEs of Karnataka and to highlight on investment opportunities. It
functions as a nodal agency for technology transfer and as a facilitator.

Primary objective is to enhance the competitive status of SMEs of
Karnataka through technological upgradation.

Catalysing technology upgradation of SMEs through acquisition, adoption
and upgradation of modern technology.

WTO Relay Cell:
Functions at KCTU and deals with matters pertaining to industry and trade
under the Chairmanship of M.D., KCTU, with overall supervision and
guidance of the Commissioner for Industrial Development and Director of

The cell would do networking with all the concerned agencies like;
Ministries of Commerce & Industries, Science & Technology, Law and
Small Scale Agro & Rural Industries, Government of India, State Level
institutions and Academic Research Institutions etc.

The cell would strive to provide technical, legal and administration support
for the industrial sector of Karnataka. The cell would also draw out a
special action plan based upon the periodical directions provided by the
Policy Level task force.
e) Department of Industries & Commerce – Facilities:

Arranging sanction of credit facilities to unemployed youth under PMRY
scheme.

Setting up of industries through single window, approval for sanction of

f) Karnataka State Small Industries Development Corporation Ltd.:
The Corporation mainly undertakes for construction of industrial sheds and
also takes responsibility for improving / maintaining them. It also arranges for
allocation of raw materials like iron, steel etc. to needy small scale industries.

i) The National Small Industries Corporation Ltd.
The Corporation was set up in 1955 with a view to support, aid and foster the
growth of industries in the country. Since then it has been assisting the small
scale sector through a number of schemes.
As a result of economic growth of the country during last 50 years and the effect
of liberalisation and globalisation competition has become the first and foremost
challenge in the present times. Accordingly, NSIC has also restructured from a
mainly Financing organisation to a Marketing promotion organisation for SSIs.

The Corporation assists in exporting the products of

j) Visvesvaraya Industrial Trade Centre, Bangalore
The centre offers guidance to small Industries for export of their products and
also participates in different exhibitions on behalf of industries. The centre also
conducts training programme on ‘Export Procedure’ for the benefit of
prospective/ potential exporters, apart from conducting buyer – seller meets.
Also provides escort services, helps in redressal of grievances and assists in
implementation / co-ordinating the implementation of other export promotion
schemes.
