Alan Keyes vs. Barack Obama
on family issues
Keyes
Issue
Obama
Life
Pro-infanticide. Supports abortion on
demand through all nine months of
pregnancy—and failed to support a ban on
the gruesome practice of live birth
abortion (SB 1661, 1662, 1663) and partial
birth abortions (HB 382).
Pro-protection of traditional marriage.
Keyes believes that marriage can only be
defined as a union between one man and
one woman.
Marriage
Anti-protection of traditional marriage.
Said Obama, "I will oppose any proposal to
amend the Constitution to ban gays and
lesbians from marrying." (Windy City
Times, 4/2/04)
Pro-Second Amendment. Keyes supports
every citizen’s right to defend themselves,
their family, and their property.
Second
Amendment
Anti-gun. Obama is an anti-gun extremist
who even opposed legal protection for IL
citizens who defend their homes and
families from an intruder. (SB 2165)
Tax relief
for families
Anti-tax relief. Obama believes federal
taxes should return to higher levels—and
as a state senator, has supported
continually raising taxes.
Health care
Anti-consumer. Obama voted to raise
taxes on health insurance premiums,
passing cost increases on to the consumer.
He supports socialistic Universal Health
Care—the type of disgraced federalized
program promoted by Hillary Clinton.
Pro-tort reform. Keyes supports tort
reform to keep businesses in Illinois and
protect the quality of our health care
system.
Tort reform
Anti-tort reform. Obama is against caps
on medical malpractice awards, and has a
voting record that contradicts his
campaign statements favoring consumers.
Pro-school choice. Keyes supports
empowering parents to ensure that every
child has access to a quality education, in
a system of competitive choice.
Education
reform
Anti-choice. Obama opposes school choice
and even opposed the tuition tax credit for
public and private school families. (SB
1075)
Pro-life. Keyes is staunchly pro-life, and
considers abortion the most important
moral issue of our time.
Pro-tax relief. Keyes supports the
permanent elimination of the federal
income tax and the death tax.
Pro-consumer. Keyes supports lowering
health-care costs through free-market
competition, consumer choice, medical
savings accounts, and greater emphasis on
diet and fitness—in addition to medical
malpractice caps.
Anti-pornography. Keyes supports
Internet filters at public libraries and
schools to protect young children.
Pornography
Pro-pornography. Obama voted against
making school boards equip computers
with filtering software to prevent minors
from gaining access to explicit materials.
