In 2011/12 Sedex continued to grow and we now have over 28,000 members worldwide, reinforcing our position as the largest collaborative platform for managing ethical supply chain information. Looking ahead to our 10 year anniversary in 2014, this year’s Members Forum will examine the collaborative impact of responsible sourcing and how companies and individuals will shape the future. Our keynote speaker, Ed Gillespie from sustainability communications agency Futerra will set the scene for the day by exploring the importance and impact of our actions, and examining how we can take even greater steps to improve standards in global supply chains. During the day you will get the chance to share your views and ideas in interactive breakout sessions facilitated by members of the Sedex team. As a membership organisation your views are vitally important to us so we encourage you to think about your objectives in the longer term, your emerging needs, the changing environment you operate in and what you will need from Sedex in the coming years. The event will finish with a closing plenary from Adrian Gilpin, an expert on human development and Chairman of the Institute of Human Development, who will motivate and inspire you to continue your vital work in improving working conditions for millions of people. During refreshment breaks and lunch you will have the opportunity to learn more about Sedex and a range of other organisations in the exhibition area. You will find a full list of sponsors and exhibitors on pages 9, 10 and 12 of this programme. After the main event we will be holding a short drinks reception to celebrate the launch of the ‘Sustainable Sourcing of Agricultural Raw Materials – A Practitioner’s Guide’. This will also provide some time for attendees to meet fellow Sedex members in an informal setting. Please do join us for this if you can. Thank you for your attendance and your continued support of Sedex – we hope you enjoy the day. 6 Agenda Morning Session Speaker Room Foyer 08:45–09:15 Registration 09:15–09:25 Welcome and Introduction Carmel Giblin | CEO Sedex Banqueting Hall 09:25–09:55 AGM Formal Business & Elections Chris Start | Non Executive Chair Sedex Banqueting Hall 09:55–10:40 Keynote: Sizzling Sustainability Ed Gillespie | Co-Founder Futerra Banqueting Hall River Room & Court Room 10:40–11:00 Coffee Break 11:00–11:55 Panel session:Why do we need ‘Labour Standards’? Collaborating for change Justin Bettey | EU Director Level Works Level Works specialises in providing supply chain monitoring and support services, believing that that there isn’t a “one size fits all” solution for companies, vendors and suppliers who want to make a positive impact on working conditions. From our experience we know that dialogue up and down the supply chain on realistic expectations, incremental improvement and the business case is critical if real and sustainable change is to occur. Various roles have allowed me to experience at first hand the poor and often dangerous working conditions in sourcing countries and the impact caused to people, communities and economies. Christel Costagli | Head of Procurement Sustainability Trinity Procurement GmbH Christel Costagli is Head of Procurement Sustainability for the SABMiller Global Procurement Organisation (Trinity Procurement GmbH) based in Zug, Switzerland. Leaders of change: realising your potential Adrian Gilpin | Chairman Institute of Human Development Adrian Gilpin, Chairman of the Institute of Human Development and author of bestselling book ‘Unstoppable – The Pathway to Living an Inspired Life’, is best known for working with Chief Executives and their Senior Management Teams on their personal leadership qualities, and on finding new and effective ways of leading their organisation through times of unprecedented change and uncertainty. Adrian’s current focus is on harnessing the power of social media and video to tap into the most ancient and potent form of communication: storytelling. The stories circulating in an organisation are contagious, and they prophesy the future. We need to learn to craft our stories better than we do - personally and collectively. Adrian helps his clients to design highly effective and sustainable change programmes through storytelling. 18 Event Sessions Morning Keynote: Sizzling Sustainability (9:55–10:40) Your actions have delivered real progress in working conditions around the world.
