TECHNICAL ADMINISTRATOR Job Description Basic Function: To provide the day to day technical administration requirements to the Technical Department. The Technical department provides the Company’s technical and legal requirements as well as being the guardians of fruit quality. Duties and Responsibilities: To assist the Technical Department with the development of policies and procedures To analyse current documentation ensuring recommendations for amendments as appropriate To assist with the creation of, and to maintain, a controlled master document file of standard documents To track the return of the terms of trade documents To analyse and report customer complaint data, e.g. CARES data from Sainsbury’s on a period by period bases and RTM’s from Marks & Spencers To organise customer samples To be responsible for the samples of the Technical Departments pesticide and microbial residue testing program. To ensure samples of fresh produce are taken, analysed and the information reported on. To ensure the costs are accounted for by either recharging the grower or by aloting the costs to a PO. To ensure all information is communicated to field based and office based technologists To assist with the design and delivery of various presentations and projects Administration of RTM Funds held on behalf of growers To carry out the weekly comparative shop / benchmarking Page 1 of 3 its fit for purpose and make To book flights, car hire and hotels for the technical team when required To enter technical data on the retailers required databases e.g Muddy Boots, Sedex, Vines. Reports to: Technical Director Positions Supervised: None Internal Relationships: Liaison is necessary with all departments, in particular, the field based and overseas members of the Technical and Quality Assurance teams External Relationships: Close working relationships are to be developed with the major Food Retailers, analytical laboratories, and suppliers Person Specification Age: Open to experience Qualifications: Qualification in Horticulture – desired, not essential Full driving license - essential Skills: Demonstrate knowledge of the fresh produce industry Demonstrate knowledge of retail requirements Knowledge of system and procedure controls Knowledge of pesticides – desired, not essential Excellent written and verbal communication skills Polite telephone manner IT literate with experience of MS Office Numerate Organised Accurate Demonstrates attention to detail Team play Sense of humour Flexible Experience: Experience of working within a fast moving retail environment – desired, not essential Experience in handling technical administrative requirements Page 2 of 3 Terms and Conditions Location: Tolworth Towers (Surbiton). Requirement for occasional overnight stays Remuneration: Dependent on experience Hours: 40 hours per week – desired, but not essential Car Allowance: Mileage rate – casual user rate Review: Annually notified on 1 December. Pension: annual entry date. - any changes are Contributory - invited to join at first Life Assurance: Linked to pension at 2.5 times salary. If not in pension scheme then fixed sum of £5,000 Holidays: 25 days pro rata, plus public holidays.
