CARROLL POOL HIDEAWAY PARK LOUISIANA TECH UNIVERSITY GOLF COURSE SPECIAL REMINDER * Must have a valid Louisiana tech I.D. or guest pass in order to enter the M.S. Carroll Pool or the Lambright Sports Center. Use of Tobacco in any form or gum in this facility will cause you to have your privileges revoked. Also no one will be allowed to enter this facility with any form of cleated shoe. No Black Sole running shoes allowed in the Sports Center. No Cut-Offs. No one under 16 years of age allowed to use facility without adult supervision. Weight Room- Must wear full shirts (no cut-offs or tank tops). Must have a towel while using equipment. GENERAL POLICIES AND GUIDELINES Administration and Control The operation of the Intramural complex shall be the responsibility of the director of Recreational facilities. The administration and scheduling of the different areas of the facilities is under the direction of the director of Intramural Programs. Priorities The Louisiana tech Intramural Complex is primarily for the use of the students, faculty, and staff. Detail information is covered in these policies. Usage priorities as listed below: FIRST- Intramural Events SECOND- University sponsored functions and academic classes. THIRD- Functions outside University Scheduling of All Facilities The Intramural Complex will require coordination and cooperation from all the users to get the maximum use of each facility. Communication will be very important for a near problem-free operation. Intramural sports have priorities over all other use in the facility. Academic classes will operate on a flexible schedule from quarter to quarter but will end all classes at 12:00 noon. The Intramural Complex will be under the supervision of the Intramural Director. He will coordinate all activities for areas of the buildings. Any and all scheduling for all facilities must be coordinated through the office of Intramural Director to prevent any conflicts that may arise. Areas not scheduled for Intramural events will be available for other recreational uses. Eligibility to Use Facilities Entry into these facilities during recreation hours will be allowed only be holding current Louisiana Tech identification card or cards that have been issued to guests. Tentative Hours This facility will open from 8:00 a.m. until 9:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 7:45 p.m., Saturday from 1:00 until 6:45 p.m. and Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:45 p.m. During quarter Break, hours will vary and on school holiday the center will be closed. Students, Faculty and Staff Students, faculty and staff carrying current I.D. cards that have paid the building usage fee may use these facilities. The spouse of students will be permitted to use the facilities by showing a current Intramural I.D. card. The spouse of faculty and staff will be permitted to use the facilities by showing a current Intramural I.D. card. There will be a charge for each additional card. Dependents of members must be in school and under the age of 19 to be recognized by this department as a bonified dependent. (College students enrolled at Louisiana Tech must not exceed the age of 22.) Children of students, faculty and staff sixteen (16) years of age and younger will be admitted but must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and must remain in the company of them at all times. Guests of students, faculty and staff will be admitted to use all facilities, but must abide by the following guest policies; if not, sponsor will lose his privilege to have a guest. 1.Request for guest must be made one day in advance during regular office hours Monday through Friday. Requests will be accepted on Friday for Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. Contact the Intramural Office. Guests are required to present proper I.D. and enter the building with the eligible individual who requested their admittance. Guest must leave the building with the eligible individual or prior to that time. Eligible students will only be allowed one guest per week. Guest may be guest only once a week. Guest must remain on a one to one ratio with students. NOTE: Faculty and staff members their wives/husbands and students who have not paid the recreational facilities fee are not eligible to use the indoor facilities as guests of eligible students or faculty or staff. Others During the academic school year all other persons and outside groups including conference attendants are normally denied use of the indoor facilities. When exceptions are made they must have the approval of the director and the checker will be notified in advance. They may be admitted to view the facilities. Children must be accompanied by an adult (college age) and all viewing guests are asked to sign the guest book. Use of facilities by Non University People The building is primarily for the use of students, faculty and staff of Louisiana Tech University. The facilities will be available to families of students, faculty, and staff and to non-university associated groups only to the extent that such use does not interfere with the primary use. Each request will be handled individually by the Intramural Director, and in accordance with policies of Louisiana State Board of Trustees which includes proof of liability insurance. Common Rules and Regulations A. Use of tobacco or gum will not be allowed in the Intramural Recreation Complex. Result of this will be a period of automatic suspension. B. Shoes on playing area should be rubber soled, non-marking basketball type (No Black Sole Running Shoes.) C. Eating and drinking will be allowed in snack areas only. D. Furniture and equipment may not be rearranged or removed without approval of the Intramural Director. Decorations may be placed in the building with the director’s approval and in specific areas. General recreational equipment will be available for checkout during regular recreation hours and only at that time. No one will be allowed to bring any recreational material into the building except for racquets, racquetballs, and handballs. The university and all departments operating within this facility will not be responsible for the lost personal belongings or accidents that might occur. Persons damaging, destroying, defacing the facility or its equipment will be denied use of the center and may be turned over to the campus police. Damage to equipment will result in a fine for replacement of equipment. Persons creating problems or disturbances will be removed by the staff of the activities building or campus police. Regulations Governing the Use of Indoor Facilities of the Intramural Complex The general operation policy for the Intramural gymnasium states: ORGANIZED student groups: The groups may use the indoor facilities without charge for non-division sponsored activities if their use fits into the general program and schedules of the Intramural Sports. Only those who have paid the Intramural facilities fee may participate. 1. Organized Student Groups. An organized student group is one officially recognized by the dean of Students. General Program. The general program includes all of the recreational activity programs sponsored by the Division of Intramural Sports. Schedules. Includes all of the Intramural activity programs sponsored and scheduled by the Division of Intramural Sports. Reservation of Indoor Facilities An organized student group may reserve an indoor sport facility if their use does not interfere with any of the recreational activity programs sponsored and scheduled by the division. No reservations will be given for an indoor sports facility if the proposed use of the facility is contradictory to the intended use of the facility. Only racquets with guards will be allowed on the courts. Players playing racquetball are encouraged to wear safety glasses at all times. Soft sole shoes are required. No black soles or cleated shoes allowed. Players are encouraged to wear eye guards. Weight Room All participants are required to wear soft-sole shoes, non-marking shoes (NO black sole running shoes or cleats allowed.) Spotters are mandatory for heavy lifts of the free weights. Weights and related equipment will not be rearranged or removed from this area. Free weights must be left in an orderly manner. Bars must be stripped of weights. Full shirts must be worn at all times. A towel is required at all times while in the weight room. Sauna and Steam Rooms The sauna and steam rooms are located in the men’s and women’s locker rooms. Detailed instructions will be provided for workers of these two areas. The steam and sauna rooms will be available during posted operational times. No one except authorized persons will be allowed to operate equipment either sauna or steam rooms. Individuals must shower before using these areas. Frequent Request Areas A. Handball and Racquetball Courts The Twelve (12) handball/racquetball courts are primarily for students, faculty, and staff to play handball or racquetball. B. Gymnasiums The two gyms have a variety of courts. These courts can be made available for university sponsoring events so long as it does not interfere with primary use. Regularly scheduled contests for intramural events will have priorities over recreation and workout schedules. Policies governing supervised and unsupervised free play basketball in the Main gymnasium will be posted on the intramural bulletin board. (No full court games will be allowed when gyms are full.) SPECIAL AREAS – RULES AND REGULATIONS Check Out Center A. The checkout center will be open during scheduled recreation hours. No equipment will be checked out until that time. B. Individuals may check out equipment during recreation hours by leaving a valid I.D. card or donor’s card. The equipment must be returned the same day. Individuals are responsible for the equipment until it is returned. C. Equipment may be checked out overnight or weekends by Tech sponsored groups and by leaving a valid I.D. card. A one dollar per night overdue fee will be charged for the following: If recreation equipment, letter B above, is not returned on same day as checked out, after the third night the person will be charged the full price to replace the item. Equipment checked out overnight or weekends and not returned on the specified date will also be charged one dollar per night overdue fee that they are late. Bicycle Area No food or drink will be allowed on or near bicycles, Nordic Tracks , Stair Masters, or ping pong table. There will be a thirty minute time limit on all bicycles, Nordic Tracks, or Stair Masters, if there are people waiting to use these machines. Anyone that is pregnant or has a written doctors statement claiming back problems will have first priority over the two semi-bike (Bicycles with back support). It is requested that everyone bring a towel so they can wipe down the equipment after use. Gymnastics Area The gymnastics area must be under constant supervision from those responsible for opening it. This area will not be open without supervision. Those that are not practicing safety procedures and not using proper precautions will be refused use of the gymnasium facility. Swinging on rings is forbidden. Doubling on single apparatus is forbidden. Equipment shall not be removed or rearranged by unauthorized persons. Usage will be as follows: Intramural sponsored events P.E. classes Gymnasium club if such exist- special hours Recreation hours 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.. Non-University people Public school meets Supervision must be provided by: Supervisor of Intramural events Instructor of P.E. class Sponsor of gymnastics class Sponsor or president of sports clubs or graduate assistants. Supervision from training room, check out center worker, and from the supervisor of recreation. Person or organization using gymnastics area will be responsible for the conduct of participants, their safety, and care of equipment. Apparatus Room The gymnastics facility will be governed by the following policies: May not be used regularly by non-university groups to practice for meets May be used occasionally for community meets Facility will be available for Louisiana Tech gymnastics club, sports club workouts, and meets Track Area All walkers are to walk on outside area of track. All individuals using the track area must follow in a counter clockwise direction. Locker Rentals All locks will be provided by individuals desiring locker use. Lockers need to be checked on at least once a month. We will not be responsible for loss of items while using lockers.
