South Western University's College of Medicine was formally founded in the year of 19471948 as Southwestern College.. Government acidulation of the College was issued in 1952. The
Southwestern University College of Medicine has been named under the memory of the founder as
Matias H. Aznar Memorial College of Medicine, Inc (MHAM-CM).
Located in the middle of Cebu city, the 2nd biggest city in South Philippines and closer to
countries like Singapore and Malaysia. SWU is home to many many Indian students which
makes any new student feel at home and impart with valuable education wise tips and general
support from senior Indian medical students.
Campus and infrastructure :
MHAM-CM standard classrooms are airconditioned, well lighted, and equipped with their
own overhead digital light projectors (DLP). The
surround amplifier, complemented by a Bose
speaker system, affords the student the luxury of
“being seated right next to his/her professor”. In
MHAM-CM, lectures are theater-like.
Accommodation in University Hostel facility is
excellent and is always in demand. Most Indian
students choose to stay outside for various
reasons like easy cooking, cost effective etc.

Library:
The Health Sciences Library has updated books, journals, and references, which enrich the
student's studies and research.The library is open on weekdays and Saturdays and to date has
books of 4,103 Titles, 5,881 Volumes, Periodicals 227 Titles Hard Copies, 289 Titles Electronic
Journals
Faculty :
Many of the Professors are trained in the Medical Universities in Developed Western Countries and
participate in Faculty Exchange Programs. The Guidance Centre provides mentoring and
counseling services to students to articulate their maximum potential. This gives an international
edge to SWU students.
Climate :
The average temperature in Cebu is around 24 to 32 °C and does not fluctuate much. This is very
much like our south Indian General weather conditions.
