For more information, visit northernlightshealthfoundation.ca The Health Foundation’s Impact in Your Community Investing in Community Health Care In the last six years, we’ve invested over $11.4 million to enhance health care in Wood Buffalo. State of the Art Medical Equipment In the last five years, we’ve funded hundreds of pieces of medical equipment for the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre. Central Monitoring System This System plays a significant role in patient care for the Health Centre. It provides the ability to effectively and efficiently monitor patient vital signs, including temperature, oxygen, heart rate, blood pressure, respiration and fluid in the heart and lungs. Women’s Wellness Initiative This Initiative aids in identifying gaps in women’s wellness in our community. Many programs were conceived out of this Initiative focusing on preconception health, prenatal care, postnatal care and mental health. Baby Friendly Initiative This Initiative aims to empower our community to inspire and encourage families to breastfeed through understanding, education and support. Inner-City Homeless Health Initiative This Initiative aims to improve the health of the homeless population in Fort McMurray through tailored interventions, such as the Health Clinic located in the Centre of Hope. Dental Health Program We funded the equipment for this program, which helps to provide preventative dental health services to specific at-risk populations at no cost in the outlying areas of Wood Buffalo. Aboriginal Health Liaison This position helps promote awareness of health care programs and services available to the aboriginal community in Wood Buffalo, and insists in ensuring these programs and services are accessible. Outreach Vehicles We have funded two public health fleet vehicles and two environmental health fleet vehicles to support rural outreach programs for many years.
