ROTARY ANNS OF RCB
Pres. Alberto “Bert” Talco
Rotary Greetings to everyone!
We got one more month before the turn over and there are still a number of activities
we have to attend to. Of course, our last Family Day Fellowship was our out-of-venue
meeting held at the residence of Rtn. Chris Faelnar. We had the opportunity to enjoy the
foggy afternoon with our senior Rotarians such as PP Jack Gesner and RAPP Lou , PP
Angeling Palma, Rtn. Ping Paraan and Ann Emilie and now in pink- of –health, PP Helmut
Schlaaff.
We thank the Rotary Anns for their welcome of leis, sumptuous meal, Hawaiian dance,
and great company. Of course, a Family day is not complete without the Rota-kids. They
entertained us with their songs and dances and, for those who stayed longer; we had a taste
of home made pizza, courtesy of PP Mike’s Rota-kid, Gabby and Kim!
Rtn. Chris and RAPP Yolly were great hosts too. We enjoyed the now- you- see it –
now- you- don’t eco-friendly panoramic view of the beautiful lowlands! Of course, there
was music and “chichiria” the whole afternoon. Again, thank you so much for the great
time. For the Nineteen (19) fellow Rotarians and family who attended, my appreciations.
PE Mia, along with her team, is bracing preparations for our induction which is
scheduled for 27 June 09 at the Ballroom, Baguio Country Club. The membership will
be duly updated with the plans and we encourage everyone to participate in this eventful
affair.
Gov. Jess continues to show deep concern for unfortunate families who were adversely
affected by Cyclone Emong. He has, as a matter of fact, emailed all Hero Presidents and
Rotarians asking for more funds to help alleviate the plight of those affected. Right now,
the immediate need is to provide for roofing materials for homes and schools in Western
Pangasinan.
Let us please answer to this call and let us direct our donations to the District Office,
AG Iam Chan or PP Boy Chavez. Acknowledgement receipts will be duly provided.
Manila Rotary Club, our mother club, held its anniversary-induction program last
Thursday, 04 June 09. We did hope to be there but the weather was really bad. Just the
same we are proud to be their daughter club.
Another phase of Rotary is unfolding with the various invitations for inductions
coming from the different Rotary Clubs in the District. Open your e-mails and our Cañao
for the invitations and I hope you find time to accompany PE Mia in any of these affairs.
Today, we will hear from our Baby Rotarian Raffy Kapuno for his classification talk.
I am sure we will all be enlightened on his chosen topic. Surely, it will never be a dull
moment in Rotary!
Thought for the week: “So many people spend so much of their life energy ‘sweating
the small stuff’ that they completely lose touch with the magic and beauty of life When
you commit to working towards this goal you will find that you have far more energy to
be kinder and gentler.” Richard Carlson

The Meeting That Was
30 May 09
Asec. Gigi Maranan
Fellowship started at 11:30am with the members & guests arriving in their brightly colored
flowery shirts and dresses in keeping with the Hawaiian Theme. They were greeted at the door
by the Anns who welcomed everyone with beautiful leis of mums strung by the Anns themselves.
Call to order was done by Pres. Bert at exactly 1pm followed by the invocation done by PP Lito.
Lunch followed immediately after.
Despite the rains, nothing could stop the Rota-Kids from entertaining everyone with their
singing and dancing. Kimiyo Meadows, Nicole and Igor Cawed wowed everyone with their
beautiful voices. The Faelnar kids made PE Mia envious of their dancing prowess.
Fellowship & entertainment continued inside the Faelnar’s home as the rains started to get
stronger. The raffle, which was organized by the Anns, was a success with everyone buying all the
numbers and winning at least 1 prize each.
PP Diony, Rtn. Raffy K., Rtn. Joe U. & EIC Dhory all sang their hearts out much to the delight
of everyone. Pres. Bert gave in to everyone’s clamor and sang “Please Release Me”. Does this
mean you can’t wait to relinquish your presidency Pres. Bert?
It was a day of fun, food and fellowship with everyone forgetting about the weather and
enjoying the day. Thank you to Rtn. Chris and RAPP Yolly Faelnar for sharing with us your
beautiful home, your well-manicured garden and the spectacular view of the mountains and the
sea. The club is truly grateful also to the Anns, who helped plan and organize this last fellowship
for Pres. Bert’s term. We couldn’t have done it without you.

The rain could not stop the warm fellowship and
awesome entertainment.
High spirited Asec Gigi led the lady Rotarians and
Anns in their Hawaiian dance.
The Rotary Anns and Pam still in their best mood
dancing with Rtn. Joe’s music.
The BRATPACK is complete! yes...we are all
present, participating and enjoying.
The men seem to be discussing something more
serious than their choices of songs.
The “family picture” of the year-end fellowhship/outof-venue-meeting. It was great..great..great!!!
