When You Come... How to Access Services... The Richmond Early Childhood Mental Health Program works with families and communities to assess and treat behaviour problems in children 0-5 years of age. Your first appointment usually takes 1½ hours. Then we will arrange for further treatment as needed. Public We are a multidisciplinary team. Some of the behaviours treated may include: Issues relating to uncontrollable temper tantrums; defiance; aggressiveness; hostility; sibling rivalry; extreme shyness; difficulty separating from parent Behavioral patterns that affect sleeping; feeding; toilet training Concerns about anxiety; depression; phobias; trauma Issues relating to attachment and bonding Parent-child relationship difficulties Assessment and treatment is provided in the context of the child’s family and in collaboration with other community service providers as needed. We are a designate teaching site for UBC Faculty of Medicine. Parking permits are provided if you need a space close to the clinic in the hospital parking grounds. Please note the permit is not for free parking. Please ask our receptionist for one when you come if needed. You or your community provider may call to request information about the referral. A referral from your doctor will be needed. Referrals must be made by physicians to our program. We are a multidisciplinary team composed of a child clinical psychologist, Dr. Susan Eadie and child psychiatrists, Dr. Carolyn Steinberg.
