Civil Procedure (British Columbia)
The Civil Procedure examination is based upon the Supreme Court Civil Rules B.C. Reg.
168/2009 along with the other legislation listed therein, i.e. Court of Appeal Act, Supreme Court
Act, and Law and Equity Act. In addition you should study the Jury Act and the Negligence Act.
N.B. Part 8 and Rules 9-1 and 15-1 of the Supreme Court Civil Rules are of particular importance
and you should familiarize yourself with them.

The British Columbia Annual Practice [students should use the most current edition available]
(2014) written by Dillon and Turriff. Publisher: Canada Law Book Inc., 240 Edward Street, Aurora,
Ontario, under license from Western Legal Publications (1982) Inc.
There are no further relevant pages with respect to this particular syllabus with the exception of
the names and addresses of the publishers and a sample exam.

The majority of case law and legislative resources needed by NCA students are available on CanLII, the
free legal information resource funded by the Federation of Law Societies of Canada ( www.canlii.org ).
That includes all decisions of the Supreme Court of Canada, and all federal, provincial, territorial and
appellate courts.
Your registration fee also includes free access to the Quicklaw resources of Lexis Nexis. Your ID and
password will be arranged and emailed to your email address on file a few weeks after the end of the
registration session.
Sign in to Quicklaw via www.lexisnexis.com/ca/legal. The first time you sign in to Quicklaw you will be

should not be shared with anyone.
