In the case of CCAF, the Kirtland Education Center is your point of contact. 1 LEWIS UNIVERSITY NATIONAL TEST CENTER (NTC) The Lewis University National Test Center is an authorized CLEP, DANTES, and Excelsior test site. There are many resources available to help you prepare for your exams. Each CLEP, DSST, and EXCELSIOR (ECE) exam has information on what you can expect to see on the actual exam available at the Kirtland Base Education Center. These "Study Guides" include a short sampling of questions similar to ones you may see on the test as well as the answers. You can check this resource to see if a particular exam is appropriate for you. In addition to the Study Guides, certain tests have video or audio material as well as subject area books. These are also available at the Base Library and will help you prepare to sit for a specific exam. Web sites listed in this booklet also have exam descriptions, fact sheets, and practice exams so you can adequately prepare. It is highly recommended that you review and prepare before you sit for the test as these exams are the equivalent to a semester of school and three to six credit hours. Testing can decrease both the time required to complete your college program and your out of pocket expenses to fulfill degree requirements. If you already possess the knowledge for tests selected, you may be ready to go, but it is still recommended that you review the material. More good news… in the event that you do not score high enough to earn credit on your CLEP/DANTES/ECE exam, there is no negative effect on your grade point average; however, if you choose to retake the exam after the requisite six months, you must fund the retest. You may take a maximum of 30 semester hours in CLEP/DSST/ECE/DLPT5 testing toward your CCAF degree. Other universities vary this requirement. Please check with your parent university for their specific requirements.
