Do you need to take the Victor Valley College
Assessment Test?
Have you completed an assessment test here at Victor Valley College or at another
community college with in the last 3 years?
If you answered NO, then please go on to schedule your appointment to take the
assessment test.
If you answered YES and the assessment test was completed at Victor
Valley College with in the last 3 years, then you will not be able to test until
your scores have expired. You can request a copy by filling out the request form
and fax it to 760-241-9212 or email to Lilia.Garcia@vvc.edu.
If you answered YES and the assessment test was completed at any of the
following community colleges with in the last 3 years: Barstow, Cerro Coso,
Chaffey, Copper Mounteain, Crafton Hills, College of the Desert, Mt. San Jacinto,
Palo Verde, Riverside or San Bernardino Valley,you would be exempt from
taking the test. You will have to fax in or email the actual copy of your
scores/placements so we can use them towards your educational goals.
If your assessment test was completed at another college or university with in the
last 3 years, please bring your actual score report (assessment test results) to
your counseling appointment.
If you answered YES but do not have a high school diploma or GED or are not
in a K-12 grade, you can schedule your ATB test but be sure to schedule your
retest date is 14 calendar days after the 1st test and 30 calendar days after the
2nd test. The ATB Policy can be found on the Assessment Page
To be exempt from completing the assessment test, one of the following must
apply to you.

Completed an Associate of Arts or Sciences degree or higher.
Completed the equivalent of at least Math 50 and or English 101 here at Victor
Valley College or at another higher education institution. (See Counseling).
Have placement recommendations from and ASSESSMENT taken within the last
three years and have a copy of the actual score report.
Enroll only in non-credit classes.
Planning to only take classes for personal development or enrichment.
Taking classes for recertification or licensing.

Currently enrolled in a four-year college/university.
For concurrently enrolled students (K-12 students) enrolling only in music
performance, theatrical performance, and/or physical education activity courses
are exempt from taking placement tests.
