SET A
1. A log is to be cut 2 parts in the ratio 4:5. If the log measures 18 feet, find the
lengths of the two parts.
2. There are 120 beads. The beads will be repacked into 3 smaller packs in
the ratio 1:3:2. How many beads will be put in each smaller pack?
3. Three sisters Lia, Pia, and Ria are planning an eat out. They decided to
share the expenses in the ratio 2:3:4 respectively. If the total expenses will
amount to P1350, how much is the share of each sister?
SET B
1. The ratio of adults to children who went to the museum is 5:3. If there are
20 adults, how many children are there? How many people went to the
museum?
2. A carpenter can make 4 desks in 6 days. In how many days can he make
15 desks?
3. A van can run 14 kilometers on 1.5 liters of gas. At the same speed, how
many liters of gas does the van need to run 70 kilometers?
SET C
1. The ratio of pears to apples is 8:5. The difference between the pears and
apples is 45. How many pears and apples are there altogether?
2. The ratio of books to notebooks is 9:5. There are 48 books more than
notebooks. How many of each kind are there
3. Terry and Perry shared P720. Terry had P120 more than Perry. What is the
ratio of the share of Terry to Perry in simplest form?
SET D
1. A ribbon is to be cut into 3 parts in the ratio 3:2:4. If the length of the ribbon
is 270 meters, what is the length of each part?
2. The ratio of teachers to students is 12:40. If there are 60 teachers, how
many students are there?
3. Lorie and Angie shared 90 candies. Angie had 18 candies more than Lorie.
What is the ratio of the share of Lorie and Angie in lowest term?
!2
4. The ratio of tables to chairs is 4:9. Their difference is 120. How many tables
and chairs are there in all?
ANSWER KEY
SET A
1. 18 divided by 9 = 2
4:5—18 ft.
2x4= 8
2x5=10
A: One part measures 8ft. The bigger part measures 10ft.
2. 120 divided by 6 = 20
1:3:2—multiply each by 20 = A: 20: 60: 40
3. L: 2
P: 3
R:
1350 divided by 9 = 150
2:3:4
multiply each by 150 = A: L=300
4
P=450
R=600
SET B
4. ratio of adults to children = 5:3
20 divided by 5 = 4
A: 12 children went to the museum, 32 people went to the museum
5. 4 desks in 6 days
So 8 desks in 12 days. (4x2=8; 6x2=12) we doubled it
And 2 desks in 3 days. (4 divided by 2=2; 6 divided by 2 =3) we divided it
A: 8 desks + 2 desks = 10 desks
6. 14km on 1.5l gas
liters of gas to run 70km?
70km = 14 x 5
1.5 x 5 = A: 7.5km
7. pears to apples: 8:5
pears to apples difference: 45
how many pears and apples altogether?
8-5 = 3 so 45 divided by 3 = 15
8x15 = 120
5x15 = 75
120 + 75 = A: 195 pears and apples
8. books to notebooks: 9:5
48 books more than notebooks
?books ?notebooks
9-5=4 so 48 divided by 4 = 12
12x9=108
12x5=60
!3
A: 108 books; 60 notebooks
9. Terry & Perry shared P720
T: P120 more
Ratio of the share of Terry to Perry in simplest form?
P: 720 – 120 = P600
600 divided by 2 = 300 (So of the 600 they had 300 each)
T: 300 +120 = P420
P: P300
420:300
42:30 (divide each by 6)
A: 7:5
10. 3:2:4
length of ribbon: 270m
length of each part?
270 divided by 9 = 30
30 x 3 = 90m
30 x 2 = 60m
30 x 4 = 120m
11. 12:40 (teachers to students)
60 teachers
? students
60 divided by 12 = 5
40 x 5 = A: 200 students
12. 90 candies shared
A: 18 more than L
Ratio of the share of Lorie and Angie in lowest term?
90-18 = 72
72 divided by 2 = 36
A: 36 + 18 = 54
L: 36
36:54
6:9 or A: 2:3
13. 4:9 (tables to chairs)
difference = 120
how many tables and chairs
9-4 = 5
120 divided by 5 = 24
24 x 4= 96 tables
24 x 9= 216 chairs
