Ross McAlister and James Snead from FedEx Global Leadership Institute served as facilitators for numerous meetings with United Way staff and local politicians, corporations, nonprofit agencies, labor leaders and other community leaders to guide United Way in a new direction. This year, FedEx provided 25 volunteer employees in this vital role. FedEx has the largest number of Leadership Givers in our region (giving $500 or more in one year) and 46 Tocqueville Givers (giving $10,000 + in one year). Tocqueville members raised over $631,914. Volunteers were matched with large work projects at local nonprofit organizations, giving employees a first-hand look at many of the places where their donations make a difference. They were able to see how crucial it is to contribute to programs that impact our community. Before leaving for their worksites on FedEx Cares Day, employees enjoyed a rally on the grounds under a giant tent with breakfast, live music and executive presentations. The 2010 FedEx Cares / United Way Day of Caring activities were coordinated by Camille Washington, FedEx Customer Information Services, Parul Bajaj, FedEx Services, and Heather Coolican, FedEx Express.
