The Bismarck Figure Skating Club is now taking
registration for the first winter session. The session runs
Oct. 29 through Dec. 13. Cost is $47 for once a week or $82
for twice a week lessons. Ages 3 through adult are welcome
with hockey skates or figure skates. More information can

Catch the CAT bus for FREE on Halloween. Any other day
the 12 routes can get students from one end of Bismarck

night of trick-or-treating, games and prizes from 6-8 pm

U-Mary Volleyball High/
Middle School Night
Friday, Oct. 30
The U-Mary volleyball team is hosting a High School/
Middle School Night for its home match on Friday, Oct.
30 at 7 pm. The U-Mary volleyball team will be facing the
University of Sioux Falls in the McDowell Activity Center
on the University of Mary campus. Admission for all middle
school students is FREE! Admission for all high school
students is $1 per NCAA rules and regulations. To get in for
this price students must represent their school by wearing
their school t-shirt or jersey to the game. Respond no later
than Thursday, Oct. 29 by emailing mlmoriarty@umary.
edu. If attending personally provide your name and year in
school or, if attending with a high school team, provide a
team list.

Puklich Chevrolet is hosting its 1st annual “Spook Out
Cancer” event on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 3701 State St. During
the event, families are welcome to enjoy trick-or-treating
from 10 am-2 pm and participate in a Pick-A-Prize raffle
that will be offered between 9 am & 6 pm. $1 will be
donated for everyone in a costume. Puklich Chevrolet has
committed $30,000 to the Bismarck Cancer Center and
American Cancer Society during October.

Saturday, Oct. 31
New Song Church will host its annual Trunk or Treat event
on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 4:30-7 pm. Enjoy candy, games,
prizes, hot dogs, cotton candy, face painting, and more in
a safe and fun environment. And it’s all FREE! New Song
Church is located at 3200 N 11th St. (between Menards &
Dan’s Supermarket).

KidzCurl is back!
BHS & LHS students
fight hunger
Starting Saturday, Nov. 7
The Capital Curling Club is sponsoring Saturday morning
curling for grades 1-12. Students who would like to learn
to curl or continue to improve their curling is encouraged
to participate. Cost is $30 for the season (approximately 17
sessions). Please note the early start date!
Students in grades 1-5 will be on the ice from 9-10:20 am,
followed by grades 6-12 from 10:30 to noon. No previous
experience is required and the 10:30 session students will
have the chance to be on a junior curling team this year
and do some competitive curling. Classes go until the end
of February and are located at the VFW Sports Center
just south of the Bismarck YMCA. For more information,

Scrub Camp
Wednesday, Nov. 11
The Bismarck State College Student Nurse Organization is
hosting a Scrub Camp on Veteran’s Day, Wednesday, Nov.
11 for kids ages 7-12. Scrub Camp will run 8:30 am - 3 pm
at the Allied Health Center. There will be lunch provided
along with many fun, hands on and educational activities
throughout the day. Each child will receive a FREE scrub
top plus prizes. The cost of the camp is $50 and space is

Saturday, Nov. 14
The Key Clubs at Bismarck and Legacy High Schools are
having a Pack the Pantry event on Saturday, Nov. 14, 9
am to 2 pm at the BHS Karlgaard Gym and at the Legacy
parking lot. Key Club is a school and community service
group. Nonperishable food items will be collected for
Carrie’s Kids, United Way, Salvation Army, and school food

U-Mary Baseball
Skills Camp
Sunday, Nov. 15
There will be a baseball skills camp for grades K -12 on
Nov. 15 in the Leach Field House at the University of Mary.
The first session is for K-6 graders and will be at 4-6:30
pm. The second session from 6:15-9 pm is for 7-12 grades.
The goal of the camp is to deliver fundamental baseball
instruction in a fun and exciting way. Campers will walk
away with drills and techniques they can use on a regular
basis to continue to improve their game long after the camp
is over. Parents and coaches have the opportunity to attend
so they can apply the information taught to their child. Cost
is $50 and a FREE t-shirt will be provided. Register in

Popular father-daughter
ball is back!
Bismarck, Century, and Legacy High School students will
present The Wizard of Oz on Nov. 12-15 at the Legacy High
School Auditorium, 3400 E. Calgary Ave. Mandy Wardner
is the director for the musical. Working with Wardner and
students from all three schools are Mike Seil, vocal director;
Chris Dasovick, pit orchestra conductor; Jennifer BedardUpgren, choreographer; and Shelly Kinn, technical director.
The Bismarck High School Drama Dept. will once again
host a Fairytales & Forever Afters Father-Daughter Ball
(or uncle, grandpa, guardian, etc.) on Saturday, Nov. 21.
Ticket sales start Monday, Oct. 26, at the BHS office ($40/
couple; $10 per additional child). There are limited tickets
for this event so please purchase by Nov. 13.
Wizard of Oz presented
Performance times are 7 pm Thursday through Saturday,
Nov. 12-14, and 2 pm Sunday, Nov. 15. Tickets go on sale
on Wednesday, Nov. 4 at Hughes Education Center, 806 N.
Washington St., from 8 am to 4 pm. Enter Door #6, up the
steps to Activities/Fine Arts on the left (323-4082). Tickets
will also be available at the door. Adult tickets are $8;
senior citizens and students K-12 can purchase tickets for
$5; preschool tickets are $3.

The night of the ball, doors to the Karlgaard Gym open at
5:30 pm for pictures with BHS drama students dressed up
like princesses. The 6 pm Grand March is open to other
family members and friends. Then from 6:45-9 pm, fathers
and daughters will enjoy a night of dancing, crafts, refreshments, and hanging out with their favorite princesses.

Let’s Dance presents A
Christmas Carol
Friday, Dec. 4
Let’s Dance Studio presents the Dicken’s classic, A
Christmas Carol, for all area schools and daycares. Come
watch the story of Ebenezer and his journey to Christmases
Past, Present and Future.
Performances will be held Friday, Dec. 4, at Belle Mehus
Auditorium, with two show times offered: 10:30 a.m. and 1
pm. The show will last approximately one hour. Admission
is $2/per child with one to two chaperones admitted FREE.
The shows fill quickly, so RSVP as soon as possible. Don’t
forget to schedule busses.

The Right Track Program at BECEP is looking to hire
independent consultants to serve Burleigh, McLean,
Sheridan, Kidder, Emmons and/or Grant County.
Responsibilities include administering in-home
developmental screenings for children ages birth to three,
providing developmental activities and parental support,
and making referrals to other programs.
A BA or BS degree in Early Childhood, Early Childhood
Special Education, Social Work, Nursing, Physical Therapy,
Occupational Therapy or Speech Therapy, a license to
practice in North Dakota, knowledge of child development,
and experience working with infants and toddlers required.

The YMCA Youth Development Center offers after school
programming for K – 5th Grade students at three locations:

Youth Development Pass
The Youth Development Pass is FREE and available for
youth grades K-6 in Bismarck-Mandan. It includes use
of swimming pools, basketball courts, locker room, and
youth fitness classes. Pick up an application at the Member
Services Desk.
Youth Fitness Classes
This group fitness class introduces different fitness
activities: circuit training, Zumba®, kickboxing, yoga, etc.
to youth 5-12 years old. Classes will meet Mondays and
Thursdays 6:45-7:30 pm in the Y Gym (please note changed
time and location).
