NFORMATION

STUDENTS

PARENTS

AND

TEACHERS

Please be prepared 20 minutes before your scheduled interview time. If the judges are ready early, they may call you in a few minutes before your scheduled time.

You are responsible for the placement and removal of all props or equipment used in your entry.

All exhibits must be in place in the exhibit hall before judging begins at 9:30 am. We ask that students with exhibits leave their projects up until 3:00 pm so that the public may have an opportunity to see the work.

Michigan History Day, the Historical Society of

Michigan, and Central Michigan University are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.

We understand that you want to give your students all the moral support you can. However, please remember that they have done a great deal of research and know their subjects well. Please sit back and relax: allow them to be the experts for the day!

Please DO NOT TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS during performance and documentary presentations. It is distracting for both the students and the judges.

Starbucks and Quiznos are both located in the Bovee

University Center and will be open today. Many other dining options are available only a few blocks away on

Mission Street/Business 127. Food vendors will also be available on the lawn in conjunction with the Gus

Macker basketball tournament.

We are delighted to have you with us and hope that you will enjoy the day. Michigan History Day staff will be available at the registration table throughout the day if you have any questions.

Join the Historical Society of Michigan in its mission to preserve, educate, and celebrate Michigan’s history!

Governor Lewis Cass and explorer Henry Schoolcraft founded the

Society in 1828. Today we continue the work they started with programs such as Michigan History Day, workshop opportunities, resources for local societies, and more.

Basic membership in the Historical Society of Michigan is $25 and includes our quarterly publication Chronicle , which is packed with historical stories as well as the latest news about Michigan historical events and activities, workshop discounts, bus tours, and more. Regular membership ($35) adds the scholarly journal Michigan Historical Review .

Enhanced membership is available for Basic ($40) and Regular ($50) members, adding the richly illustrated Michigan History magazine, published six times annually.
